Comments about Park Tool TW-6 Ratcheting Torque Wrench:

I've been wrenching bikes here and there for 25 years. I thought I was pretty good at getting torques close. The day this arrived I cranked it up to 40nm and got on a crank bolt. My guesstimate was way off. Turns out I needed this more than I thought. Very heavy duty and simple to use. I wish there was a more positive feel when the desired torque is reached though. A skip and click is all you get.

Comments about Park Tool TW-6 Ratcheting Torque Wrench:

Have wanted a full size torque wrench for quite a while, and purchased the bike specific Park Tool TW5 at the same time as this. This is more like the big auto mechanic-type ones at the hardware store. Not so great for smaller stuff like bike parts. This is made to the fantastic level of quality Park Tool is known for. It comes in a rugged case to keep it safe. Very easy to adjust. Roughly 16" long. Add 1.5" for case. Way too big to fit in my bike tool box so it was relegated to my main tool box. Somewhat heavy in your hand though very solid. Not sure when I'll use it, but a great addition to my collection of tools.

Comments about Park Tool TW-6 Ratcheting Torque Wrench:

Torque wrench is really well made and easy to use. It comes in a nice case to keep it safe during storage. It's a click-type wrench - in that it makes a click sound/feel when you've reached your desired torque setting. The trouble is when you use it for something that requires a lot of torque (i.e. your cassette locking, which needs 40nm), you can't really feel or hear the click from the wrench - over the sound and resistance of the locking itself. For lockrings, you may just be better off to use a regular drive ratchet and "do it up tight". I also tried to use this to torque my rotor bolts down, but the recommended torque was too low to read on this wrench. The other Park Tool tool torque wrench (TW-5) would also be needed to have a range of torque settings to cover your whole bike. I suppose if you're a perfectionist or a professional bike mechanic, you would need this, but for the casual bike tinkerer (like myself), it's probably overkill.

Comments about Park Tool TW-6 Ratcheting Torque Wrench:

I've been using beam torque wrenches forever so I was hesitant to try the ratcheting type. It worked perfectly for applying the 40 Newton-Metres I needed for my BIONX (Electric bike) kit and now I've been using it ever since. It's very accurate: I've had mechanics check whenever I went in for tune-ups. The 'click' sound is a bit quiet so you should pay attention so you don't over torque anything by mistake. It doesn't come with any adaptor bit but that's easily gotten. On a final note, I've been using Park Tool for years and they've never disappointed me. They've included a nice and sturdy case too.
