Park Tool WAG-4 Dishing Tool

PARK TOOL WAG-4 DISHING TOOL

For a wheel to perform properly, it is important for the rim to be centered between the locknuts of the hub, or "dished". To check this, and to make precision adjustments, a wheel alignment gauge (also called a dishing tool) is a must. The new WAG-4 allows easy checking of the dish on road, mountain, BMX wheels, and others from the 16-inch wheel-rim to 29-inch wheel-rim, and even the 27 inch wheel-rim. It works with any hub width and its innovative design allows it to be accurately used with even a wide tire and a quick release skewer still on the wheel. The WAG-4 will in many cases allow the dish to be checked with the wheel still mounted in the bike. An accurate and truly versatile wheel alignment gauge that belongs along side every truing stand.

Works like a charm!
This is a good dishing tool and works with tires on or off. It does the job for sure and JensonUSA had the same price as everyone else. I just think it's over priced by Park Tool. It's made well except the sliding hub guage is a bit cheap to me. I just feel there is no reason that it is priced at almost $50. I purchase Park Tools sparingly as much is just over priced in my opinion.

Necesssary Tool for Wheelbuilding
I realize that while it it possible to dish a wheel in the truing stand by flipping it back and forth, there is no real substitute for a dishing tool to check the final result.

PROS: Versatile

Typical Park, Great design and it works
Always wanted to build a set of wheels. Bought this tool and a spoke tension guage. Built my everyday wheels. Now have about 1000 miles on the wheels, all is well, occasionally use this tool to check dish when I check true.

The best dishing tool... If you need 1?
If you have the consumer stand then I'd definitely buy this tool. It's the best one for what it does. But if you have the shop truing stand (TS-2 or TS-2.2) then don't bother with this tool. Instead, look at buying the Park 1554-1. The 1554-1 a gage that helps you center your stand. I purchased both and don't see the use for this tool now. Again, with the consumer stand, this tool would be a tremendous help.

PROS: It works

CONS: Not Always Necessary

BEST USES: Keep In the Garage, Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes
