I chose this...
I chose this tensioner because of the obvious cheese factors I saw in my friends less expensive products. I am running it on an FSR converted to SS and am as happy as I hoped. Perfect alignment, no slap in spite of the chain length, and cool looks. I'm guessing it will outlast me.

What it said on the box
Used this chain tensioner with the Surly spacers to convert an old road frame and Ultegra rear wheel to singlespeed. The spacers on the tensioner mounting, combined with the Surly cog/spacers, made chain alignment with front chainring, very easy.
Ended up with a pretty reliable singlespeed beater bike - no chain drops yet. A much nicer end result than turning old bike frame into a set of wind chimes.

PROS: Easy To Install, Durable

BEST USES: Casual Riding, Singlespeed Conversion

running it on a...
running it on a fully ss right now, hasn't dropped a chain, but i'm gonna put it on my hardtail and run 3 rings up front and 1 in the back. keeps great tension. I wanna try the new etr-v tensioner by yess. if i didn't like this tensioner i would sell it but it's really nice. i'm doing 6 foot drops and never skipped, dropped or had issues with the chain slap. very confident in this product not failing on the trails. i rate it a 4 cause i'm not a pro and i haven't tried other products yet.

Compatible with 11-speed?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is used to convert a geared bike to single speed, that does not have adjustable rear drop-outs. Or another means to tension the chain. It does work with the narrow 11 speed chain. It also works well on a full suspension mtb.
I hope this helps.
