Stop wondering why all your cables are frayed and messing about with cheap pliers. It'll save you $10 the first time you change a cable without having to go to the bikeshop. They cut through housing well too. Replace your last piece of shifter housing every year and your shifting will thank you. You need these.Not for toenails.

Excellent, durable and dependable cutters.
They cut flawlessly through any type of housing or cable, including the extra thick Yokozuna brake housing.
The cutters do not include a place to crimp ferrules. I use wire snips for this purpose and find them to do a cleaner job then the compression crimp ability of similar cable cutters.
I was a mechanic in a past life and these were the cutters I chose to use in the shop.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is a fine tool. It does what it's supposed to very well, and it looks to me like it will last my lifetime, at the least.
However, Park's CN-10 has the same build quality but also incorporates a crimper for end caps. The Park tool lists for the same price, and does a tidier job with end cap ferrules than needle-nose pliers.
Due to the bonus, or value-added, on the Park CN-10, I'm going to say I would not recommend the Pedro's, but I think it has the edge in terms of build quality, durability, and use. IF you have your ferrule-crimping dorted, then this is the cable cutter for you.

If you're talking about my riding experience, it is very low. My bike is just used for some cardio excercise around town on the streets. I may go and hit a trail soon, but no hardcore riding for me on this bike anyway.
