Yes, it's grease and there are others out there that are equally good, and yes, it's a little expensive. But, you know it does the job. The last time I bought a tube was 20 years ago, so I think I can afford the cost every other decade. And, it's green! what more could you want.

PF bearings on my a trek weren't rolling smoothly anymore opposite drive side. I use Phi's grease and now my friends can't keep up with me on hills. Wow, nice to no have anymore resistance than necessary from my crank.

Needed a good grease for repacking my bottom bracket and crank arms and this did the trick. This is a pretty well-respected product in the cycling community.

                      Comments about Phil Wood Grease:

I have used this waterproof grease since the 80's and have not had any issues in any of my bikes. The tube is convenient and the green color is also nice as it allows you to determine when it's time to change (becomes black with dirt). Once you have it, you may find other household uses as well!

I picked this up from a local bike shop and use it constantly, on any parts with threading, and some without threads. Works very, very well in my experience.
