great for the trail...
great for the trail rider that is about to take a step up to clipless. but for a racer not as good unless they are great at getting their feet in and a willing to sacrifice possibly a few seconds from their final time

I love these things
I love these things. I'm always worried they are going to stop making them and I'll be stuck trying clipless again. They are heavy and the screws strip if you over tighten them. They look dorky but if you are a good enough rider who cares what you look like. When they stall at a tough spot and tip over because they are stuck in their pedals it makes it all worthwhile.

nice alternative to toe clips
These are a great alternative to toe clips. I used them on my fixed gear commuter for about two year, and they worked great. They're strong enough to pull up against to slow down the fixie, and I like that you can use them with any shoe. My only complaint is that the strap can loosen with use, but it's pretty simple to tighten it again.

PROS: Versitile, Durable, cheap

CONS: Can Loosen W Time

BEST USES: Commuting, Fixed gear

These will do, sir.
I like the pedals a lot, I have size 12 shoes so I have to make the straps as loose as possible and that does the trick perfectly. I'm not sure if that were the case with larger shoes than mine. The left strap also touched the crank arm and it's rubbing the paint off a little. Both pedals and straps are installed identically so I don't know why this is happening. Still, I like 'em

PROS: Seems Rugged, Adjustable, Reliable Entry/Exit, Good Platform

I used these pedals...
I used these pedals for 3 years at college and they were perfect for riding to class and some occasional trails. They are a good compromise between normal platform pedals and clipless. You can wear normal shoes and still get a powerful upstroke. But now that I'm riding some more serious singletrack, I'm going clipless.

Good product
These are a good product if you need to keep your feet tied to pedals and don't want to deal with special shoes or toe clips

The only way they could be improved is to be adjustable so that you could tighten them a bit after getting your foot in

PROS: Ride in most shoes, Easy to use

CONS: Difficult to adjust

BEST USES: Commuting, Pleasure riding

Love 'em!
I've been riding with these for about five years now at about 60 miles/week, give or take, and have had zero problems with them. Easy in, easy out, easy to adjust. A little on the heavy side, but durability comes at a price, and it's not like I plan on racing in the Tour de France anyway so it doesn't matter. I have to say, apparently a lot of other people love these as well because the price for them has gone up considerably from when I bought them five years ago, but I do feel they are worth it considering these are the last pedals you'll need to buy for a long time.

PROS: Increases Pedaling Efficiency, Good Platform, Reliable Entry/Exit, Adjustable

CONS: Heavy

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Road Biking

If not a weight weenie, not the worst.
Many snobs would turn their nose to these pedals, and there may be reasons for that. But I actually liked toe clips, or at least I got accustomed to them and the way they felt/worked on trails. These are like clips but even easier to pull out of if you need to. If you want something that puts your foot in the right position on the pedal, allows you lean forward a little more without an endo, and allows you to lift up as well as push down on pedals, without having mountain bike shoes, these may be for ya.

PROS: Good Platform, Increases Pedaling Efficiency, Puts Foot In Right Spot

CONS: Have To Get Used To A Bit, Heavy

Platform or Clipless; NOT THESE!
I call these "leg breakers." It's possible for the strap to trap your foot on the pedal, and I've got the Flight for Life bill to prove it.

CONS: Unreliable Entry/Exit
