Comments about Problem Solvers E46 Eccentric BB:
So, I have a Raleigh Tripper, which comes with an eccentric bottom bracket setup just like this one. The Raleigh equivalent, though, has no side-wall on one side of the cups. This means that if you over-tighten the bolts on the Raleigh equivalent (which I stupidly did), it deforms the aluminum and your bearings get out of alignment and it becomes impossible to ride. I bought this as a replacement, and I've gotta say, I don't think it's going to have the same issue. The cups have large edges that go all the way around the shell, and it fits great.
You may be wondering why it's $150 for two small parts that are so simple, just bearings and housings. I was too, until I took a look at the tooling marks on these. They are CNC milled, from a single block of aluminum, Macbook Pro style. The price is due to these being one-off carving jobs, rather than cast or molded or hydroformed.
It does exactly what it's supposed to, feels super durable, is lightweight and looks great. Would buy again, though hopefully I won't ever have to.
