I learned about Progold Prolink in the "Zinn" book. I use it atleast every other ride and often every ride. I haven't had any problems with gunk build up from it at all. I have used a few lubes before this one and I'm done looking.

After each ride, I apply one drop on each roller, spin the crank backwards for a few moments, then thoroughly wipe the chain with a shop rag. It cleans, lubes, and doesn't attract much grime if properly wiped. It's a good comprimise between dry lubes that don't lubricate well and heavier oils that are dirt magnets.

This is the best chain lube I have found. It cleans and lubricates. I use it to clean my chain, then re-oil. It is long lasting and stays on the chain.

Extremely slippery fast lube. That also means it evaporates quickly and flies off if applied too liberally. Needs to be reapplied often and all excess needs to be wiped off. But when it's on - zoom. Can really feel a difference when pedaling if you've gone a week or two and then apply a fresh application of this stuff.

I got this for my freeride bike as a grab-n-go product. Easy to take on long trips etc. Cleans the chain great, and keeps it quiet and lubricated over a few days of dust at the bike park.

For road biking this product is great. Easy to apply and not messy. Keeps your chain clean. I clean and lubricate my chain after every ride and this product is the easiest to clean off and reapply. Penetrates into the links and doesn't gum up.

I have been testing several of the top recommended chain lubes (ProGold ProLink, White Lightning Clean Ride, and Squirt – a review is written for each one), to try and find the best lube for ME and MY typical riding conditions. Typically, I ride my Fuel EX 8 about 60% on the road (I use it to commute), and 40% on dusty and rocky trails. I don't typically encounter water, and I specifically avoided it for this test, to keep the playing field equal. Most lubes were used for 50+ miles, except for Squirt (you can read why in the review for this lube). The wax lubes were used on one chain; the dry lubes were used on another; to avoid any type of contamination. In addition, the chains were cleaned with a de-greaser, and then high pressure water, and left to dry completely before applying the lubes. All of the lubes were applied according to their specific instructions. Below are my test results:

The only bad thing about this lube is the application. The applicator tip on the bottle is just about worthless. The lube drips out the bottom of the tip (closest to the bottle), as much as it drips out the end of the tip (where it's supposed to come out). This definitely results in some waste. Since I installed this lube on a dry chain, I put 2 drips at each roller. After I covered the whole chain, I spun the cranks a few times to work it in, and then left it overnight before taking the bike out for a ride. It appeared to distribute itself evenly, even to the outside links. This lube applies clear and dries clear, and is very thin.

This lube is extremely quiet for the first 10 miles. It is fairly quiet for the next 20 miles. After about 40 – 50 miles, the chain began to make more noise, and the shifting wasn't as crisp. I would say this lube is good for 40 – 50 miles for my type of riding conditions. After this amount of mileage, the drivetrain definitely has a minor amount of dust stuck to it, but not too bad. After reapplying the lube to the chain, it actually cleans the chain quite a bit – especially if you apply the lube at night and let it sit until the next morning. And since it's a wet lube, you can ride it right after applying it.

This was my favorite lube, by far, and the one that I will be using. It is quiet, it allows crisp shifting, it's long-lasting, and it is ready to go after application – you can apply and ride.
