Happy with RF wheels
I'm a All mountain/downhill rider. I've been rolling on this wheelset for 5 months now with a set of 2.40 highroller 2's 4 rubber and the only issue so far was some loose spokes on the back end. Raceface recommends xc and trail for these rims but after a long convo with the forks at RF they assured me this wheelset could hold up to anything I could throw at it and so far so good. The trails I ride and race should have tacoed these wheels by now. Rim width is a bit narrow so it narrows tire size but 4 all mountain enduro riding 2.40 is plenty wide enough.

PROS: Easy To Install, Lightweight, Durable, Attractive Design

CONS: Limited Compatibility

Solid light weight wheels
I got these wheels and set them up tubeless without issue. Been riding them on roots and rocks around New England and they've performed quite well, no issues so far after a full season.

Nice wheel set, easy tubeless conversion
I got these wheels with a Jenson custom bike with the XD 11 Sram free hub. Quality seems very good - rims are absolutely true and spokes are very tight. The SRAM hub is noisier than the Shimano I'm used to, but not excessively loud and good for letting other trail users know I'm behind them. Converting to tubeless was easy. There is some confusion as to whether you can use the stock rim strips or not. I just installed a tubeless stem and sealant and they sealed up fine at first (Nobby Nic tubeless ready tires), but the rear was plagued with recurring slow leaks until I installed tubeless rim tape. The front is still trouble-free with the stock rim strip after 200 miles of rocky/rooty single track. You can take your chances with the rim strip, but I'd advise taping the rims.

Ok rims but good for the price
I had been meaning to upgrade my OEM wheelset on my Kona Process 134 for a while. When I saw the price of these I decided to try them out. The price and weight combo seemed a little bit too good to be true which ended up being the case. When they originally arrived the spokes were all pretty loose. The rims do feel a little fragile overall. I brought my bike in for a regular tuneup and afterwards the spokes felt much tighter. The ride of the aeffects can be summarized as somewhat loose/bouncy. I ended up purchasing a set of WTB Frequency rims and having those custom built at a shop. Although it cost more these rims feel much better than the aeffects and were not a waste of money.

If looking for a upgrade from OEM wheels I would say pass on these and save a little more money to get yourself a custom built wheelset in the 500 - 600 price range. Moral of the story, you get what you pay for.

Been a year on these
I had these come on my Banshee Rune I got for Jenson. I though they'd be trashed by now but honestly, they are still as straight and smooth as the day they first hit the trail. I don't think you can beat them for the low cost. I, like others, ws wondering if they'd setup OK tubeless. I installed the Hans Damps without a tube just to see if they'd hold air. They did surprisingly. So, I put the Stan's in and gave they a shot. I had purchased Stan's tape but didn't even use it. I haven't had any issues with leaks at all. Yes every now and then I may have to add a little air but this is normal. I check the hubs today and no issues with rough bearing at all. I pulled the wheels off just to do a cleaning and check the bearing while they were off. I do plan to upgrade the wheelset soon but just for strength and lees weight but, I am not in a rush as these are fine. If you are looking for a less expensive upgrade these are a great choice.

Solid set, excellent deal.
Well spent dollar on the sale price. Budget build trail bike and this fit the bill. Comes with adapters for just about every frame type before boost. I will add, *** pretty much ZERO instructions, so had to figure out, changed from the XD driver to the HG, but in doing so, you have to use the same end caps as the XD, and the Drive side cap says "XD ONLY", but you still have to use that to maintain the 142mm width. The rest of the caps are 135.

Great price, overall quality, no shipping issues.
Solid wheelset. Applied stans tape after reading prior reviews, slow air leak the first few days. Over a week ridden and now holding air throughout the weekend. The RF hub bearing make speeding downhill a breeze. Adjusted the brakes to compensate for the speed. With the tubless setup, I have personally shaved 3lbs off my original stans wheelset 11lbs - 8lbs. Light enough to climb the mountains here in Arizona. Running 28psi and will be reducing to 25psi to compensate for the rough terrain.

Just got a Yeti 575 from Jenson and it came with those wheels. Do I need to add or switch the tape inside to make them tubeless ?

Philip on May 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You will need to tape these with tubeless tape and equip them with tubeless valves to convert these wheels for tubeless use. Be sure to use a tubeless ready tire.
I need with a shimano regular driver and the listing is only shows sram xd, is this an error?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
This says XD W/HG Freehub. Which one is it???? Sram XD, Shimano HG, or does it come with both? I guess I will find out when I call tomorrow and probably need to cancel my order.
A shopper on Jun 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The SKU that you select will determine the freehub that the wheelset will be equipped with.
With the xd with hg freehub will it fit my shimano m8000 11 speed cassette?
Zinsser on May 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, the XD freehub is compatible with SRAM XD cassettes only.
Will the quick release endcaps convert the wheels to 10 x 135mm rear and 9 x 100 mm front?
A shopper on Feb 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Endcaps are included so you can convert to a quick release from and rear. 10x135mm refers to a thru-bolt setup that is a little different, which is not an endcap set that is included.
Have the 9 gear drivetrain by Shimano will they work or will I need to upgrade?

BEST ANSWER: If they are sram xd if you have to update
Will these for a diamondback ride?
Robert on Oct 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I’m not familiar with that bike but as long as it’s 27.5 and 9 gears or larger it should work. The wheels came with caps for both through axle and skewers. Best of luck.
Does it come with a shimano HG free hub? I need the shimano... and its not showing options nor indicate it does have the free hub with the set.

A shopper on Feb 20, 2017

are these also QR or just thru axle?
A shopper on Dec 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: These wheels include front and rear QR hub end caps.
Regarding taping these wheels up for tubeless, would you just tape over the tape that is already in there or remove that first? It seems like if you tape over this tape it might not hold? Thoughts from anyone with experience dealing with these is much appreciated!
A shopper on Jun 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I did one layer of stans 1" tape and overlapped it about a good ten inches on the end. For the valve hole, I put gorilla tape and then put the valve through that. Seems to be hold pretty well so far.
can i convert the rear to shimano 11 speed freehub? tia.
A shopper on May 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: As long as your Cassette is XD and you have the correct chain and shifter.
With the hub is it noisy?
Zinsser on Apr 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The hub definitely has a noise, I wouldn't consider it loud, but if you take off the freehub body you can add more grease in there to quiet it down. They are nice sounding hubs in my opinion.
What width tubeless rim tape should I use? Also what height tubeless valves?
scstill on Sep 13, 2017
I've got a pretty big question. will these wheels fit on my son's xs giant atx? All stock but I'm not opposed to upgrading the drive train. I really want to lighten up the bike. I believe it will take him to the next level.
