Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring

Race Face Single Narrow/Wide Chainring

These chainrings are a game changer for single-ring drivetrains! These Race Face Single rings now feature performance-enhancing chain retention technology, allowing them (for most riders) to be used without a chainguide! The secret are alternating fat/skinny teeth to fit more closely into the narrow and wide plate spacing of a normal chain, "grabbing" the chain and holding it more securely... even without the use of a clutched derailleur!

Race Face also managed to develop a 30T front chainring for a 104 BCD. Geekery aside, this allows you to get a low enough climbing gear for pedaling an All-Mountain bike up the trail, without having to buy different cranks.

The Narrow/Wide Single Rings are strong enough to stand up to the abuse of the downhill trail, yet light enough for cross country racers. Single Rings are machined from 7075 aluminum and tested in the most punishing terrain. They’re built to last!

Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring Features

  • 104 BCD
  • Narrow Wide tooth profiling ensures ultimate chain retention
  • Stiff 4mm plate thickness and I-beam construction transfer loads without flexing
  • 7075-T6 aluminum, aerospace grade strength
  • Reversible laser etched graphics.
  • Compatible for 9, 10 and 11 speed.
  • 30T 104BCD NW single ring is threaded with a standard M8x0.75 chainring bolt thread, see the hardware chart for the appropriate bolt length required for your combination on Race Face's website by clicking HERE.
  • If running a 30T ring, you will need the Race Face Chainring Tab Shims (D40331) which you can purchase by clicking HERE.

Best upgrade I have ever done! This product allowed me to reduce the weight by over 1 pound by eliminating LX cranks, derailleur and shifter. I installed it without a guide or a clutch derailleur and has worked flawlessly. It's also quiet and have reduced chain slaps. Finally, it also adds bling to the bike since it is available in many colors.

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

I don't really need range gears in Florida. Eight or nine in the back is fine. the truth is that i usually use the derailer to hold my chain until i find the cog i want then order the narrow wide. The lack of things to distract me keeps my mind on the ride.

It will not. There are, however, several aftermarket companies that
manufacture a crank spider to adapt a 104 BCD chainring to a SRAM crankset.

                          Hey there,
This chain ring is 104 bcd. If your spider is 104, then it will fit. I
believe these cranks can use direct mount which means that the chain ring
you would use attaches directly to the crank arm with out the need for a
                          spider.

Yes, you only need to order the correct bolt hole diameter. Measure between the bolt holes across your crank. Use Worldwide metrics.com to convert to millimeters. Most cranks are 104BCD, so if it's close you're good.

From what it looks like on a quick search it should work fine. The key is that the cranks have a second ring bolt spacing of 107mm. I used my old 3ring setup for a conversion and have had a solid setup. I put the raceface on the second ring spot and used a bash in place of the big ring. No front derailer and a stock chain. Only chain drop to date was my fault on a poorly timed shift. Good luck and ride on.

You need to match the bolt circle of your cranks for this to work. I have
read that your cranks are 106BCD, if that is true then this 104 ring will
                          not work.

I don't believe so. The Race Face BCD is that same as the old 3 speed
cranks at 104mm. You could probably find a Race Face gear that replaces the
                          spider.

Yes it will... as long as you have a 104mm BCD, which I believe the Comet
                          crankset has.

I do not know anything about your crankset, but I have converted all of my older mountain bikes to a 1 x 10 setup with this chainring up front and a clutch 10 speed derailleur in back.
All of the cranksets I have used it with have been three ring mountain bike cranksets. I have removed all of the chain rings, and installed one of these in the middle ring position. Works great with Shimano and Truvativ mountain cranksets.

I do not see any reason why this would not fit - as long as the bolt circle
diameter you choose matches that of your cranks.

If you have a 104 mm spider on crank arms this should be fine. If the tips of spider arms have cutouts then you need the shims that are indicated on the bottom of the product page.

This depends on your cranks bolt pattern, this ring is for 104 BCD. It is
compatible for a 1x11 setup and is available in 34T.

                          Hey Mike,
                          The Cannondale SI crank you have (assuming it's 26t / 36t 2x10) is a 64/104
                          BCD.
This Race Face ring is compatible with your crank and is also 9,10,11, and
12 speed compatible according to their website.
This chainring is available in 34t - and a variety of cool colors too.
                          Hope that helps.
                          Cheers,
                          Travis

Will this chainring work with a 1/8" (Odyssey Bluebird) BMX chain? Looking to use it on a single speed 26" dirt jumper.

Hey Eric great question! The Race Face chain ring is build for a multi speed chain that is much smaller than 1/8", You could use this but you may not have the best performance I would recommend a different chain, or chain ring for your set up.
