Race Face Single Narrow/Wide Chainring

These chainrings are a game changer for single-ring drivetrains! These Race Face Single rings now feature performance-enhancing chain retention technology, allowing them (for most riders) to be used without a chainguide! The secret are alternating fat/skinny teeth to fit more closely into the narrow and wide plate spacing of a normal chain, "grabbing" the chain and holding it more securely... even without the use of a clutched derailleur!

Race Face also managed to develop a 30T front chainring for a 104 BCD. Geekery aside, this allows you to get a low enough climbing gear for pedaling an All-Mountain bike up the trail, without having to buy different cranks.

The Narrow/Wide Single Rings are strong enough to stand up to the abuse of the downhill trail, yet light enough for cross country racers. Single Rings are machined from 7075 aluminum and tested in the most punishing terrain. They’re built to last!

Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring Features

  • 104 BCD
  • Narrow Wide tooth profiling ensures ultimate chain retention
  • Stiff 4mm plate thickness and I-beam construction transfer loads without flexing
  • 7075-T6 aluminum, aerospace grade strength
  • Reversible laser etched graphics.
  • Compatible for 9, 10 and 11 speed.
  • 30T 104BCD NW single ring is threaded with a standard M8x0.75 chainring bolt thread, see the hardware chart for the appropriate bolt length required for your combination on Race Face's website by clicking HERE.
  • If running a 30T ring, you will need the Race Face Chainring Tab Shims (D40331) which you can purchase by clicking HERE.

One of my best upgrades ever! I went from 3x10 to 1x10. coupled with brand new 2013 Shimano XT cranks (that I won in a race), shimano XT shadow plus rear derailleur, XTR chain, 11-36T cassette and race face bash guard (I know that you don't need this one but I didn't like the look of a "naked" ring.
I get the 32T and is perfect for my type of riding/fitness level, amazingly quite and ZERO issues with chain.

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

Narrow wide chain rings really help the chain stick around with 1X setups.

All my bikes are 1X and 2/3 use race face rings.

Stylish and great function. Only draw back is ring wears quickly. I ride 100 plus miles a month and in 800/1000 miles its time for a new one.

Keep in mind thats rock gardens with no bashguard and one bike is a single speed.

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

I put this on running a 1x8 setup. Before i was dropping chains even with a bashguard on the outside and chain keeper on the inside of the chain. Now i have ridden 10 times on a 45 min trail through jumps and rock gardens and have only had 1 chain drop. much better than my 5-6 dropped chains per ride with the other chainring

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

I've been 100% happy with this product. Just bolt it on and go...no dropped chains through about 2 months of use, even when I forget to engage the clutch on my Shadow+ RD.

Just remember to add some single speed bolts to your order if you're going from a 2x or 3x system.

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

Good ring and design, it does not drop chains with a proper chain-line setup. I currently have this chainring on two bikes, a 30t and 34t. Plus the color choice is also nice.

The only slight drawback is the need to supply your own bolts, but any shop will have tons for cheap or free if you ask.

Comments about Race Face Single Narrow Wide Chainring:

This chainring is awesome. It looks great and it really helps hold onto the chain. Keep in mind when using this on a single speed (as I am) you wont be able to use a half link or a half link chain, so you may have a tough time getting your ideal gearing/chainstay length setup.

I installed mine in conjunction with a new Wipperman Connex chain, a woflftooth 42 cog and the oneup RAD cage to turn my bike into a 1x10.

It made my bike super quiet, and cleaned up the cockpit. I've only dropped the chain once with an XT shadow+ rear derailleur. I'd consider that a freak occurence.

Works unbelievably well! Holds my chain on without the need for a guide. Doesn't break the bank like a Sram XX1 and looks awesome as well! Nothing negative about this product. Whether your looking to upgrade your single speed chainring or changing your drivetrain. Narrow Wide is the answer!

It works great and was easy to install. I had to put in on backwards because I didn't get the spacers. However, it works great and no dropped chains after the first 10 miles of hard riding.
