These little widgets are indispensable for configuring a travel bike that folds or breaks down to fit in airline size luggage (like the Ritchey Break-Away). In about 30 seconds you can disconnect or reconnect the cables, enabling a bike to be broken down without worrying about needing to re-adjust derailleurs, etc.

A necessity for S&S frames. Allows brake and gear cables to separate with the frame and allows handlebar to be packed separately.
Need to use 2 cables where previously there was one as "bullet" head needs to fit inside smaller piece. No room to fit crimp end cap on other cable - just grub screw (one for derallieur, 2 for brakes). Hopefully once done up tight - never need to undo grub screws until cable needs replacing.
I'm using 2 brake and 2 derallieurs disconnects on one surley deluxe frame.
