Worth the money for how it changes the bike
This review is for the 195X46 Stumpumper EVO rear shock, which I installed don my 2013 Stumpjumper Expert Carbon 29er (OE Brain shock 194X48).
I have a few weeks of riding on it now and it is SO much better in the initial and mid stroke over the small square hits (rocks, roots) than the Brain shock.
It barely fits the frame , clearance is TIGHT near the front eyelet, and cannot use a 21 ounce regular water bottle because of the shock reservoir. Small downside for how it has change d the trail worthiness of the shock.
The tune M/L seems right for my bike and riding style. I rarely jump, so I removed the 5 volume spacer bands and I am very pleased with how the bike rides.

PROS: It fits, It works

CONS: It's big

reliable good all around shock.
I have ridden fox, cane creek, and rockshox suspension. I would say that the cane creek is the best for aimed down rides and fox is the most playful and best for recovery of consecutive hits. That leaves rockshox. I will say it is probably the most efficent which i would say is due to their rapid recovery setup but this also leaves more to be desired when it comes to suppleness and rough sections that seem to make the bike turn slightly bouncy. That being said If your looking for a shock to be super playful and recover quickly for a shorter travel bike i think this would be a fitting choice.

Replaced Fox Performance DPS Evol
I bought this for a spare when I send my OEM Fox DPS in for a tune but it might become my main shock. The Debonair can is in the middle of stiffness between stock Fox Evol can and Fox with Vorsprung Corset at 30 percent sag. The M/M tune is perfect for my Fuji Auric with rider plus gear around 215 pounds except that I suspect I'll still have to add a few volume reduction rings when the trail gets rougher. The compression lever on firm still lets the shock move quite a bit, so if you like lockout this shock probably isn't for you. I like having three usable settings as opposed to bouncy, medium, rock hard on the Fox. This shock's settings are more like mostly open, medium, and firmer-than-medium.

Blown after 7 months. Warranty not honored.
Go with Fox. I had the Monarch Plus RC3 Debonair on my brand new Santa Cruz Bronson CC for all of seven months but now it's in the trash can in my garage. The shock does feel creamy when it's working, but during my 7 months of usage it failed twice, and I can't keep wasting time and money on rebuilds. Equally as disappointing, Rockshox refused to cover the shock under warranty because my LBS (SRAM certified) had to crack it open upon the first failure to reassemble the internals which had unthreaded. Be aware that Santa Cruz has gone back to Fox rear shocks after a short six month stint with Rockshox. I had ridden Fox for 11 years with zero issues -- same trails, same riding style. Had wanted a Fox for the Bronson but it was not an option. So, I'm ordering a new Fox.

Functional issues: 1.) It has no true lockout and the difference between soft, medium, and firm is much less pronounced then I'd like. 2.) The rebound lever (blue) is not ergonomic -- it is easy to over-shoot your intended setting while riding, it is difficult to tell visually or tactilely which setting your in, and I could swear that the lever sometimes jumps out of position during rough riding (in the direction of the spring loading which is in the 'soft' direction). 3.) No handle remote available.

Excellent upgrade
Replaced the X Fusion that came on my Intense Tracer with the Monarch +. Made a huge difference on the bikes performance. Very easy install. Tons of adjustability.

This shock is a must upgrade! My riding improved significantly allowing me to reduce seconds on downhill segments. Pedalling is way more efficient and the rear tire does not bounce giving you better control.

Plush wonder compared to stock
Much plusher than the stock RT3 that was on there before. Gotta wait till the trails thaw to really test it
Got it installed and set up. Just waiting on some matching red stickers to finish it up

Is the 197X48mm shock for the Spec Stumpjumper a debonair can or standard air can? Also is this an autosag equipped shock?

Thanks!

What is the comp/rebound tune on the 200x51?
A shopper on Feb 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I've been told the only tune offered by SRAM in aftermarket shocks is M/M. That's what mine arrived with.
Hi, I want to replace my current Cane Creek Double Barrel on my Banshee Spitfire V2. The fitment is 7.875x2.25. Do I need a special damper to be tuned to my bike?
abuhawa on Mar 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would check with Banshee--it probably depends how progressive the rear suspension design is and how much you weigh.
Hello, One of the size on your website says 7.785x2.0(200x51), is this just a typo, it should be 7.875x2.0? Anyways, I just want to make sure it will fit my 2015 Giant Trance 2.

Thank you,

Harry
Harry on Apr 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Harry, Nice catch!! You are right, that is a fat finger mistake that we will take care of right away. That measurement is correct for the bike you mentioned.
