Nice fork. Too big for my SC Superlight, so had it rebuilt with a 130mm spring. So smooth, so fun. Loosened the steering a little but that was expected.

Comments about Rockshox Pike RCT3 29" Fork 2015:

Bought the dual position model to replace a Talas 32 on my 13' Stumpjumper FSR. Great for the more gnarly phosphate mine trails here in FL like balm boyette and Alafia. Soaks up bumps perfectly on both short and long travel settings, and climbs incredibly well for such a plush fork.

Comments about Rockshox Pike RCT3 29" Fork 2015:

I got the DPA 160/130 version. I use the 160mm setting exclusively. The lower travel setting would be good for someone who is doing technical AND steep climbs. I tend to climb more gradual stuff and I like the geometry on the bike in the longer travel setting on this fork. 130 is too squat on the front end. Lockout type settings work well.

Solid fork for going down the hill. smooth, long travel single crown 29'er fork. Happy with my purchase.

Running the 160 dual position on my Hightower. Great fork for AM riding. I don't use the dual position. If climbing slow grinds, the 160 is a better position for me. If you like climbing really steep and technical stuff then the 130 setting might work well for you.
Lots of adjustability. 160mm is nice to have.

The fox fork that came with my Yeti was good except when things got fast & ruff....then it felt like a rigid no matter the setting. I slapped this on jewel on, set it up and PR's every segment on my very first ride yesterday. Seriously, this (combined with recently purchased CCDB in the rear) made my 29er shred like my 26er Claymore with 180 front & rear on the steep nasty. A game changer for me for sure.

I see this is a great price for a 140mm travel version. Can I, a fairly incompetent mechanic, reduce the travel to 120? What tools would I need..

hi can you please tell me with the pike 29er fork does the rebound adjustment have a link with the compression valving. I have noticed [I don't think I'm imagining it] that when I increase the rebound dampening that the compression dampening also increases not as noticeably as when I do increase the compression dampening but there does seem to be an increase .is this how they are meant to be and could you explain the forks workings . cheers steven

                          A:

This is a bit of a complex question, but here's the short answer; yes and no. The yes comes from the fact that any adjustment you make on a fork slightly affects the other settings. However, they are not directly linked to each other. Basically, you may have to slightly recalibrate the compression, air pressure, and rebound as you make changes to any one of those.
                          Cheers, S.
