Rocky Mountain Bicycles humbly began in the basement of a Vancouver British Columbia bike shop, in 1981. The employees first imported bikes to sell to their customers. Later, they began manufacturing and importing frames to their exact specifications. Rocky Mountain now produces mountain bikes, road bikes, and urban bicycles. The company has come quite a ways from their modest beginning; however, their core values have never wavered. Rocky Mountain Bicycles is just as sought after now as they were in 1981. 

The Rocky Mountain Trailhead is a great high quality entry level 29er Cross Country bike. The Trailhead has a nice headtube angle of 70 degrees. This helps the Trailhead handle great; it’s able to make quick work of the trail. Custom Hydroformed 6061 series alloy is what the frame is crafted from. A threaded bottom bracket and 1 1/8” zero stack headset complete the hardtail frame. The Trailhead frame is a great alloy frame.

Rocky Mountain chose a RockShox Recon Silver TK fork for this Trailhead build. This 100mm solo air sprung fork has a turnkey lockout and rebound. This Recon features tapered wall steel upper tubers for maximum strength while managing weight. The alloy Rocky Mountain Trailhead frame and solo sir sprung RockShox fork are a great combination. This is because of the strength to weight ratio. The frame and fork are both strong yet save weight. Shimano BR-M446 hydraulic disc brakes do the important job of slowing you down. Shimano Deore Rapid Fire 9 speed trigger shifters are super reliable. The 9 speed drive train is a proven and dialed in system. The Trailhead benefits from this because it is outfitted with quality components at a cheaper price. These shifters make shifting smooth and easy. The Shimano Acera front derailleur moves the chain across the Shimano SLX crank set’s 3 chainrings. The Shimano SLX rear derailleur guides the HG53 chain up and down the Shimano HG30 cassette.

Each Rocky Mountain complete bike includes free professional assembly by Jenson USA. Prior to shipping your bike, we will completely build and tune it, just as we would for an in-store purchase. Then, we'll partially disassemble and carefully pack your bike for shipping. Please allow 3 business days for the bike build process prior to shipment.

When your bike arrives, it will take about 30 minutes to unpack and perform basic re-assembly tasks (such as installing the front wheel and seatpost) using common hand tools.
