Much like all your components on your bike, your chain will eventually wear out with regular use. In order to keep your bike shifting and riding properly, you want to make sure your chain isn't worn out. A worn-out chain will shift poorly compared to a new chain and will prematurely wear out your chainrings and cassette. The Rohloff Chain wear indicator gives a quick and easy way to check the amount of wear on your chain. It works will all 1/2" pitch chains and allows the measurement of chain wear in seconds. It indicates if the chain is too worn for steel or aluminum sprockets and chainrings.
