SRAM Guide Ultimate Disc Brake

SRAM Guide Ultimate Disc Brake

What’s it going to take to ride that line? It’s steep. It’s rocky. You’ve passed it a hundred times. But not this time. With the all-new SRAM Guide RSC Disc Brakes, you have the power to take your riding to the next level. Proven 4-piston calipers give you smooth, lightweight, one-finger control, while its exceptional heat management capabilities deliver consistent, more reliable stopping power that inspires a new level confidence. SRAM's new SwingLink technology takes brake lever performance to the next lever with less deadband and a grippier positive pad contact, giving you top-notch control of your brake's modulation.

Contact Point Adjust lets you pick the position you want your fingers to be in when the brakes are engaged and offers a quick and easy way to customize the feel of your brakes without having to move the pads.

The new re-designed caliper uses a seal and aluminum piston interface that makes setup quick and effortless. Matching, SRAM’s Bleeding Edge technology makes bleeding the Guide Ultimate just as quick and easy of an affair.

As its name suggest, Guide Ultimate disc brakes are the ultimate complement to other SRAM components, ensuring you flawless performance on every ride.

BEST!
Recently bought a new bike which came with xtr race brake set. I tried and tried to make the xtr's work but could not.I have the Guide RSC on two other bikes so I wanted to try Ultimate's. Sram did not disappoint.Everything I like about the RSC is just Better!
I use these for xc racing.

Awesome brake!
Put these on my Specialized Enduro and love them. The adjustability is great and modulation is awesome. They came with organic pads, but I switched them out with metallic so I can't comment on the organic pads. Installation was a breeze, didn't even need to remove the brake to change the pads, came right out the top and new ones slipped right in with no problems or any other adjustments. I like the reach adjustment and the size of the levers as well. I'm no pro, but I'm happy with these.

PROS: Durable, Lightweight, Easy To Install, Attractive Design

BEST USES: Upgrade, Mountain Biking

Installation was easy and after Jenson sent the missing bleeding edge port I was able to bleed the brakes and get on the trail. These have a nice amount of stopping power and a lot of modulation.

Amazing! Huge upgrade from the RSC
These are amazing! Sram sent these to me as a replacement for the original RS. These run much cooler, no fade and I love the carbon levers. Much easier to bleed and swap pads. These are top of the line!

I hate these brakes
XT brakes are soo much better it's not even funny. I built a santa cruz nomad using these brakes and thought im going all out, most expensive brakes must be the best right? Wrong! These brakes fade when one finger speed checking during flow lines, they make an insane amount of noise like a turkey gobble but louder. They have nowhere near the amount of power i was expecting/hoping...i could go on. Buy shimano instead i'm looking to sell mine and swap on a pair of xt asap. I hate these brakes

I'm ready to switch to Shimano
After all the great reviews, I thought I had found my obvious next brakeset. I've been a die hard Sram (Avid) brake guy for well over a decade now and was ready for something a bit easier to bleed (if you've ever run Sram brakes, you know what I mean). Here's where they fall short for me. There's a rubber plug/cover for the bleed port at the caliper that once unplugged, simply falls to the side with no tether. And when mine fell out on it's own bofore I even had a chance to bleed the brakes, I found that Sram doesn't offer this tiny cheap part by itself. It's buried within much larger much more expensive kits that you don't need unless you're doing a major rebuild. For me, this is a failure of design and a failure of product support.

The BEST BEST BEST BEST BEST Breaks EVER
I Like Shimano breaks a lot I still have a set of M8000 on one of my bikes, which are probably the best bang for the buck brakes out there. but these guide ultimate's are the ULTIMATE. I have never had so much control on a bike when braking. I bought them last march, I have hundreds of hours on them and they have ceased to amaze me. when properly bled they offer amazing modulation, tons of power, and incredible control. its almost has if my fingers can feel the ground. I honestly can't explain how much control I feel. The contact point adjustment works great. it without a doubt allows you to feel the pressure of the pads contacting the rotor. truly amazing product. I just bought another set for my farley. time to test how these brakes work in the winter. stay tuned.

Rotor included?
Dan J on Feb 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Rotors were not included. Depending on your riding style and local terrain you may want to ride one rotor larger than the other so typically these brake kits do not come with rotors. I have seen package deals by other vendors that allow you to purchase the brake kit with a customized rotor option.
Are these brakes good enough for enduro riding? Will they stop a beefier bike? Has anyone had a fade issue?
A shopper on Apr 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These brakes are MONEY, they are as good as it gets.
To answer questions Yes Yes and No.
Does the price include a pair of brake levers? Or single brake lever
A shopper on May 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These brakes are sold per wheel, so you will receive one lever and one brake caliper.
