Comments about SRAM PC-971 9SP Chain:

Got the chain converting my old mountain bike to 9 speed (from 7!). Settled on this one since the reviews were great and because of the Powerlink. The Powerlink makes it super easy to install and take of for maintenance or other work. Can't comment on durability yet since I've only had it for a few weeks but it shifts great and I've had no problems so far.

Real tough! Had several of these. They are durable if taken good care of, even if punished hard.

Comments about SRAM PC-971 9SP Chain:

I've bounced around Shimano and Sram product lines since about 1990 or so using chains (Sachs chains), shifters and cassettes from both brands. The Powerlink is awesome and I keep a couple of old ones in the pack. Also, Sram chains don't require special pins, so you can break the chain and use the pin you just extracted. The 971 is a very tough chain lasting me a thousand miles or more without breaking, where my Shimano XTs were breaking after just a couple hundred miles. The 971 is a great compromise between the lightness of the 991 and the sturdiness of the 951. Works great with Shimano cassettes, too!

Comments about SRAM PC-971 9SP Chain:

Strong, solid chain. Works with my 3x9 setup just fine. Remember not to pop the pins out all the way when sizing the chain to your bike!

Ive been using these chains for my bikes and my buddies' bikes for like 2 years. they're cheap and work really well. shifting is nice with a new chain so i replace mine fairly often.

Install with the powerlink was a breeze, powerlink also makes cleaning a snap, take off the chain, soak it, clean it, lube it, slap it back on. You cant beat the price and I've beat it to heck without incident. I would never buy a chain without a Powerlink again.

Comments about SRAM PC-971 9SP Chain:

I'm typically a Shimano fan. I've had durability issues with SRAM chains and have been using Shim XTR chains. I've found , Shim chains to work great with their cassettes but slow shifts with a SRAM cassette. I bought one of these chains and was surprised how well it shifts with Shims and SRAM cassettes. I've only had this chain since the beginning of the season. Been beating the snot out of it and still haven't broken a link yet. Good chain, good, price. I'm impressed
