Is the grip attached to the shifter or is it separate?

BEST ANSWER: The grip is attached to the shifter but only the first 2 inches of rubber actually twist. The longer rubber section, if you choose too use it, fits inside the first two inches but doesn’t move or twist. It uses a small Allen wrench activated collar mechanism to lock it to your handle bar.

As I recall they are seperate yet attached with protruding plastic clips. I am still able to use my favorite grips, ESI, because they are made solely of a flexible spongy rubber that can squeeze tightly against the twist shifter.

The grip and shifter are separate pieces. There are plastic jaws that lock the grip and shifter together. Sram sends extra rings that allow you to install different grips.

I can't remember if it was attached or not, however the grip is definitely removable/replaceable. The grip has tangs that snap into the shifter.

It’s separate but they lock together. You can use other Grips with this shifter...

DIes this come with a set of grips or just one grip for the shifter?

BEST ANSWER: The set comes with two grips. The right one is the grip shifter, while the left one is just a matching (non-shifting) grip. I prefer the grip shifters over the typical thumb/finger shifters, as the grip shift is extremely fast/direct and lets me shift up or down multiple gears at once.
