The latest generation of the X9 shifter features a smaller design and is MatchMaker compatible with SRAM/Avid brake levers, making it easy to clean up your handlebar and creating more space for lever positioning.

My new Default
This shifter produces solid, slop-free, shifting. It's my new default build. I would recommend this shifter if you are running X5s currently, or if you are seeking to replace your current X7s. I would not go any higher than X9 unless you are a pro rider, you might be wasting money at that point so save a few grams (lose the Carl's Jr. first :))

PROS: Lightweight, Durable, Attractive Design, Easy To Install

CONS: NONE

BEST USES: Upgrade, Mountain Biking, Trouble Free

Great shift
The X7 shifter that came on my bike failed recently the X9 was a great deal and it shifts as crisply as newer high end options. If you're on a budget and have a sram 10spd . You can't beat this.

Is this shifter compatible with the SRAM X4 10 speed derailleur?

BEST ANSWER: Not sure. I used this on an X9 rear derailleur.
I think it would work though.
