SRAM XG-1190 Red A2 11 Speed Cassette

SRAM XG-1190 A2 11 Speed Cassette

So you've made the jump to SRAM Red, and a shiny new cassette with matching graphics might be exactly what you need. It's the SRAM XG-1190 A2 11 Speed Cassette, also known as the PowerdomeX™, the most advanced cassette SRAM has made. Super light, silent, with a significant performance advantage? Pick all three. The nine cogs in the cluster are painstakingly machined from a single block of high grade tool steel, for the ultimate in shifting performance, but weighs less than even a titanium cassette. Between each cog is a StealthRing™ elastomer to reduce vibration and chain noise. Cutouts on the rear cog help to reduce weight and add stiffness. When matched with a SRAM RED® rear derailleur, well, forget about it. Simply shift and leave the others behind.

Note: 11-30 & 11-32 ratios are NOT compatible with SRAM RED® eTap.

SRAM XG-1190 A2 11 Speed Cassette Specifications:

  • X-Glide™, PowerdomeX™, StealthRing™
  • Speeds: 11
  • Compatibility: SRAM RED® eTap
  • Weight: 151 grams (11-28)

Really sweet cassette
Tough to say anything bad about this cassette. I bought it so that I wouldn't have issues notching my aluminum freehub on my Chris Kings... Paired with a Red 22 chain it's some of the smoothest shifting I've ever experienced! It runs very smooth and quiet. It should definitely last a long time too since it's machined tool steel instead of stamped cogs. Also, it's crazy light. Love it!

So Nice
I bought this 11-28T cassette to prevent freehub gouging on my Chris King R45 hubs. I ran this on an Ultegra 6800 drivetrain. Wow, it's so nice! Incredibly lightweight and stiff, and paired with a Red 22 chain the shifts are virtually effortless. Shifts lack the immediacy and "bite" of Shimano cassettes and chains but appear to shift smoother and less "clicky" if that makes sense. The gear spacing on the smaller cogs is more even than on Shimano cassettes, saving the larger jumps for the lower end of the range. There appears to be a slight hesitation with going into the largest 28T cog, but maybe it just needs some adjustment. I really like this cassette, wish all cassettes were this nice, but the cost will definitely deter some people. The way I see it, I won't have to replace my CK driveshell ($$$!) if I run these, so it's a cost I'm willing to bear. If you can afford it, you'll save your aluminum freehub from a slow and eventual failure.

PROS: doesn't gouge cassette, quiet, smooth shifting, Lightweight

CONS: expensive

BEST USES: road bike, cyclocross

Will this work with Shimano Dura Ace di2?
Isma on Jul 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It should work with DA DI2 if you get the correct size cassette, but it might be a little noisier than a DA cassette. The DA DI2 will reportedly only handle up to a 28 tooth cassette, but it reality, it will handle up to a 30 tooth cassette. Above there, it might destroy the drive train and should not be used (e.g. a 32 tooth or larger cassette).
If you have the Ultegra GS DI2 (mid-cage) rear derailleur, it can handle a 32 tooth cassette. The DA DI2 does not come with a mid-cage option, although you can use the Ultegra GS DI2 rear derailleur with the DA group.
What's the difference between the A1 and the A2 SRAM XG-1190 11-32 cassettes?
