SRAM XG-1099 XX 10 Speed Cassette

SRAM XX Cassette

The revolutionary machined design of the XX Cassette uses the same grueling manufacturing techniques that produced the PowerDome road cassette. With X-Dome, eight of the cogs are CNC-machined together out of a single block of billet steel, creating an incredibly lightweight, precise, and strong cassette. It’s a process that takes nine hours per cassette! The aluminum large cog can be replaced as needed. You have never seen a cassette that looks like this. The open design aids in mud clearance, giving you cleaner shifting performance and longer component life.

Mixed experience
The description for this component states "The aluminum large cog can be replaced as needed. " as SRAM clearly knew this would be an issue up front. Unsurprisingly the aluminum cog does wear very quickly. But SRAM don't make the aluminum cog available. The steel cogs easily outlast the aluminum carrier/cog and you're left with a 9 speed cassette too light to function as a decent paperweight. The same issue applies to The 1080, 1199 and 1195 casette designs.

LOVE XX!
As always, XX quality never fails to impress. This is a solid piece of kit that has worked flawlessly for over 9 months of AM riding. I use it in my 2x10 setup. Changing is positive and responsive, and it's never let me down! Top stuff from SRAM.

Light and strong
virtually every possible piece of excess material was milled out of each individual cog. There is enough material left so that it is still plenty durable without sacrificing a weight penalty. A solid cassette that has worked well for me up to this point.

SRAM XG-1099 XX Cassette...Awesome
Great product by Sram upgrade for my PG-1070. I do races and have been using for about a month now there is a noticeable difference between the two. Rotational weight helps on acceleration and those gradual climbs. It is over all a better performing cassette can't speak on the durability yet only 100 miles or so usage. This is a very pricey cassette so the performance difference may not be worth it for some. After a year and 1000+ miles of usage I will too know if it was worth the money and if I would purchase again. Stay tune....

Noticeable Improvement
The XX cassette is simply so light, it makes your bike noticeably faster. The time I notice this most is on long gradual climbs where you know you are maintaining better speed. Obviously, on a steep climb, you're just grunting up the hill and wouldn't know the difference if you had the cheap 1030 cassette which I do not recommend BTW. The fact is, however, lighter is faster and this is rotational weight so dropping over 150 grams on a cassette is noticeable. The shifting difference over Shimano HG61 & HG 81 is maybe slightly better but that alone is not worth spending on. The incredible engineering that went into this cassette and the way it performs and looks will convince you it is worth the money and 2 of my friends who I also talked this cassette into also have no reservations about spending so much on a cassette because they noticed the difference immediately. Now these are all road bikes with light wheels and tires. Not sure if a mountain bike, especially a 29'r with it's humungous rotational weight difference of wheel rims and tires would this cassette make a difference the rider would notice or be significant enough to think that they spent their money wisely. Also, all the cassettes I have experience with are 11x36 where the weight differential over conventional cassettes is greatest. If you go down to 11x32 or less, the weight difference is a little less. On a road bike with big gears, this cassette is the bomb.

Not Darren proof.
I've had 2 of these, both of them gave me shifting grief when the big gear started to slip on its mount.

Hi, I can't find any replacement cogs for the aluminum big ring? I thought maybe replacement cogs by Oneup or Wolf would work but apparently they are not compatible. Does anyone know of any other options?
