The Mountain King has been completely overhauled for 2011. Those who desire a bit more meat for particularly difficult sections choose the Mountain King in 2.4. For those that would like to enjoy the excellent traction but would like to cut weight from their XC bike, choose the 2.2. Improving on what was excellent soft/loose grip, and now delivering much better all-around performance. By beefing-up the shoulder lugs, and creating more void toward the center lugs – corning has become telepathic.

Comments about Continental Mountain King II Steel Tire:

I'm really happy with this tire after a little over 100 miles. I'm running the 2.2 version with tubes on the rear. This tire has great traction and braking performance, but it rolls a bit slow and packs with mud easily. It was also pretty loose on wet rocks and roots, so overall I wouldn't recommend it for wet climates. This is a good tire for you if you care more about traction and grip than speed or rolling resistance.

Comments about Continental Mountain King II Steel Tire:

I had these tires on my XC rig for a short period of time. I tore through the rear sidewall when the tires had about 75% of tread left. Dont know if i would consider using these tires for anything other than smooth XC. The tread also seemed to wear out really fast.
