The Focus Cayo Evo 5.0 is a rock solid machine that boasts performance and pro quality at a weekend warrior price tag. However, don’t think for a second that the Focus CAYO Evo 5.0 is limited to recreational club riding only. The Cayo Evo is a full-blown race horse which offers an aggressive, chiseled frame that can sprint, corner, climb and descend with bikes that are double the price. On top of the race-ready geometry, the Cayo Evo frame is packed full of top-end features such as: a liquid-shaped designed top tube, lateral reinforced comfort seat stays, a tapered head tube, integrated cable adjusters, internal cable routing, full carbon dropouts, and a PF30 bottom bracket.
You can look all across the world and not find a more practical and reliable component group than Shimano Ultegra. The Ultegra outfit includes; derailleurs, shifters and brake levers. Ultegra series is pro-proven, and directly trickled down from the world-class Dura Ace group, bringing you a mechanism with the finest price-to-performance ratio. The power comes from a BB30 Focus branded FSA Gossamer crankset that is lighter, stiffer, and provides more ankle clearance than its GXP counterpart. Focus’s house brand Concept Ex, makes up the entirety of the cockpit, including the handlebar, stem and saddle. The Fulcrum WH-CEX 6.5 CX wheelset brings stiffness, control, durability and speed to the Cayo Evo 5.0, while remaining relatively lightweight.
Whether you’re looking for a race bred stallion to get you into your first road races, or simply looking to upgrade your aluminum bike to a sexy carbon build, the Focus Cayo Evo 5.0 is not a shabby choice.

Comments about Focus Cayo Evo 5.0 Bike 2013:
Right out of the box, this bike is a winner. Having owned several Focus bikes myself, I can attest to the high quality of their frames and builds. The Cayo Evo is a high-octane version of their Cayo frame, with an aggressive geometry and features borrowed from their Pro-level Izalco frame. The Cayo Evo is really well-constructed and operates like a professional bike – without the ridiculous pricing. If you're scared of carbon bikes... all I can say is that I've abused my carbon Focus road bikes... crashed 'em, stepped on em, and thrown em around and they've always come back without any cracks or problems whatsoever. Focus carbon bikes are really engineered to the max... nigh-indestructible.
The bike rides like a German automobile. Stiff, stable and responsive, yet smooth. Hopping on it made me want to push every corner harder! There was no frame flex when climbing out of the saddle and sprinting hard. As for the frame, the paint scheme seriously pops in person and presents a really stylish silhouette.
The Fulcrum wheels that come on this bike aren't remarkably lightweight but they are stiff and strong and that matters more to me as a power rider. I couldn't detect any flex coming from these wheels while cornering and sprinting. The stock cockpit – while generic, was comfortable, durable and easy to adjust, more than you can really ask for at this price.
The build kit is solid with the Ultegra drivetrain. The FSA crank shifted smoothly. The Concept brake set worked surprisingly well compared to actual Ultegra 6700 brakes. The modulation is just a little different and hardly noticeable between the two. Power is about the same. The only thing I could recommend is replacing the stock cables for high-end ones, and that would make this bike pretty close to perfect. If you're looking for a race bike that will last you many seasons, this really is a bike you can race out of the box!
