GT GTR Series 4 Road Bike 2013

Perhaps you ride a hand full of times a year but want to get more serious. The GT GTR Series 4 was designed precisely for those riders. The heart of the Series 4 is the hydroformed alloy frame. It’s a no- non- sense frame. It’s light, strong, and super durable. GT chose a carbon fork to smooth out the bumps in the road to provide a smooth ride. High quality drivetrain components allow you to shift quickly and accurately through all your gears. Jalco rims are laced to Formula sealed hubs to provide engagement. Each pedal stroke will translate into forward propulsion. In order to make this bike so affordable, GT chose to use GT branded cockpit pieces, including a GT 6061 alloy handlebar, GT Design 3D forged 6061 stem, and GT Bio- Morphic Race duel density base saddle.

The ultra comfortable riding geometry will allow you to ride miles and miles without fatigue. The GT Series 4 is not as stretched out as a race designed road bike. Therfore, you’ll enjoy a more comfortable riding posture. Take your casual cycling habit and turn it into a full blown pastime. Enjoy the ride.

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Bikes GTR Series 4 Bike 2013:

I bought this as an introductory road bike, have been riding a mountain bike on trails over the last couple of years. And decided to start working my way into a century ride, but didn't want to drop a fortune in case I didn't stick to road biking. This one was less than 1/3 the cost of the cheapest one in stock at the LBS. Its been OK, but at 215lbs I would recomend spending a touch more. Haven't even put 200 miles on it yet, and have already ordered upgrades to the wheelset as every other ride the back wheel is no longer true.

The other components all seem to be of good quality, the wheelset probably would be fine for a lighter rider. I will take them to my LBS and have them trued and spoke tension checked after the replacements come in to keep them as spare backup set and use the rear wheel while on the indoor trainer during inclement weather.

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Bikes GTR Series 4 Bike 2013:

This bike would be perfect for anyone getting in to road cycling. It is comfortable and fast. You can't beat the price with respect to the quality of the bike. Some people complain about the components but I have had very little trouble with them. It gets the job done, meaning it goes pretty fast and and is stiff. I love biking and this is the perfect bike for me.
The only trouble I had with it was when I got it out of the box the high/low adjustments on the rear derailleur were not set correct and I over shifted on to the high gear and really messed up the rear derailleur. I had to fix that by bending everything back into place and get the rear wheel trued. But that boils down to operator error, I should have checked before I went out.
I gave the bike four stars because the wheels are not the best quality but thats fine that way you save more on the bike to get better wheels later on.

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Bikes GTR Series 4 Bike 2013:

Was looking for an affordable way to try out road biking. This bike fit the bill. The Microshift/Shimano drive train has worked perfectly together. Not as crisp and fast as some higher end set ups that I test rode, but also a lot cheaper than those bikes. Frame and fork rides smooth compared to my old hybrid, even with the smaller tires. Would definitely recommend this bike for someone looking to get into road biking, without spending too much.
