On a 27mm Rhyno Lite rim, with a tube inflated to 40 psi (2.75 bar), the outer carcass of this tire is 46 mm. The widest portion of the knobs are at 54 mm. Installation was easy.

This tire supports the rear of my Commencal on mostly rocky, hard-packed terrain. This tire has been really grippy on the rocks and a little too grippy on the occasional soft sand. I've been impressed by its durability in the face of sharp rocky descents and ascents. I may swap it with the Duro Triton I have on the front, as the Matador has proven to be the grippier of the two.

First impressions....I bought these for my Haro MTB, 26" tires, the rear was a very aged Continental and the front a new but low grip Michelin. I needed better grip at a decent price and these seemed to fit the bill (based on reviews). .....but, installed, they look like 20" BMX tires, very narrow and almost 1" less diameter than my other tires of the same exact size. In addition, I noticed I had to run a bit more air as well, these seem to really balloon out a bit with my weight on them. I was only able to ride around my house and they seemed to do well in the dirt and gravel that is my driveway but it will be a day or two before I can git the trails since its POURING down rain right now. If these impress, I will update my review to reflect but I am already not a fan of how SMALL they are.

        Comments about Duro Matador Tire:

General: I had purchased two of these, but am currently using one as a front tire. It was easy to install and runs tubeless fine. I had taken it to my local bike shop to apply air since I don't own an air compressor. I used TruckerCo. Sealant and should work fine(it sealed a somewhat thick puncture on my WTB Exiwolf, fwiw). The Duro Matador tire has no tire directional arrows on its sidewall so the tire's tread design is used as the guide.

Cost: Inexpensive, and well-worth the purchase.

Durability: Only have about 20 miles on them so can't really comment about tread wear but being 60 tpi and with my somewhat lack of aggressive riding, it looks like it might last for a long time.

Application: South Florida trail Amelia Earhart Park. Performed flawlessly on berms, sand, hardpack, climbs etc. no complaints. I run it with just enough low air pressure and it grips fine. It might run fine as a rear tire, but I'm thinking of going for the Triton 2.2 when my WTB Exiwolf wears out.

Final Thoughts: For the price and the personal experience with it, you can't beat it. Do yourself a favor and try these out.

        Comments about Duro Matador Tire:

I ride the amazing desert mountains of AZ, as well as the granite and woods of Prescott. That said, tires get chewed up quickly with the dry, jagged conditions so I'm always looking for a good deal. I was a little concerned when I first inspected this hoop, as the compound seemed a bit gummy/soft to the touch. I've got at least 60 miles in 2 1/2 weeks of riding and it's holding up better than tires 3 times the price and reputation. I thought for sure the aggressive knobbies would shear off (as most tend to on climbs up the desert mountains), but I'm pleasantly surprised with how well it's still just as grippy as it was when new. I also thought the tread on this would hinder it's rolling performance on the pavement, but shocked again with how well it performs. Brilliant design with the chevrons throughout the center tread. I'd pay twice the sale price for this tire. Not a featherweight race tire, but lighter than most economy "off brand" tires out there, and even some of the more popular brands. Get out of those wire beads and go for a folding tire. You won't be disappointed.

        Comments about Duro Matador Tire:

Overall the tires look GREAT but....some things I noticed REALLY quickly.
        1. The Matador and Dural graphics on the wheel are some sort of a decal. Not a peel and stick, nothing that will come off but new and out of the box its very obvious. With some time on the tires the gloss has faded so its not as bad now.
        2. I replaced a Michelin and Continental 26x2.1 tires with these and the Dural is significantly smaller than either other tire. I'd say at least 1/2-1" overall diameter shorter (mounted) and quite a bit narrower as well. Honestly they look like 20" BMX tires once mounted.

Beyond all these little gripes, they are GRIPPY. Almost to the point of they had me wondering if it was the tires or me just tired, seemed I was slower and sometimes struggling more. Now that I am more used to them, this is a non issue. Roots and soft sand still throw them around but I am learning this is part of trail riding. I would say they are better than any other tires so far on the smaller roots and rocks, they do climb well also. Overall, aside from the smaller dimensions of the tires I am so far really happy with them, especially considering the price.

          Comments about Duro Matador Tire:

I bought these to replace some Continentals on my beater bike because they were inexpensive and looked like they would have decent grip. I ride very root laden trails and so far have not had any issues. I do run these at 35 psi, so that helps. Grip is not fantastic, but works well in my area where the trails are packed or loose dirt over packed most of the time. They slip on wet roots, but I have not found a tire that doesn't and I am having no problems with fall leaves on the trail. Have not had a chance to test them in mud yet. Overall I am very pleased with the tires and feel like they are a great deal. I will most likely buy more when these go.

This tire is great. I ran kenda's for a long time. I think they changed there rubber compound. I started tearing off the nobs on the side of tire. I like these tires way better. They are tougher and roll much better. better traction and cornering is better. These tires are inexpensive but a great deal. For the difference in price I will take these any day. Very good tire

                    Comments about Duro Matador Tire:

I have these on front and rear on my Jamis. They look aggresive with large spaced nobbies, so they seem to shed mud and rocks well. I noticed they like wet, slick, and muddy terrain over the dusty stuff.

The cross section of the tire is pretty rounded which helps transitioning through S turns much easier.

Can't say too much about durability and longevity because I've only put 70 or so miles on them, but they still look nice and newish.

I'm 145 lbs riding on a Jamis Dakar XC. I run around 25-35psi, but the tire recconmends 35-60psi.
