Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

I've had the RIP 9 for about a year now and have been very pleased with the performance and capabilities. I live in Southern California and the same trail can be sandy and technical at one point in the year, and hard packed and smooth at other times and this bike has handled it all. I've enjoyed Niner's commitment to making one size bike, since the geometry is very well dialed in on this bike. While not playful like a 26, this bike is playful for a 29er. The CVA suspension has very little suspension bob and I rarely put it into climb mode. The naked silver paint job is also a pleasure to look at, and as others have commented it glows in the dark. I have some scratches but the frame has handled some bumps and bruises. I also bought the 12x142 drop-out kit for the rear wheel and it helps stiffen up the rear end a little. The only thing I can really say has been an issue is the bottom bracket is a little low and I've had some scrapes (parts have held up fine thought). I have the large frame and sizing is great for a 6'2", 200 lb person.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

Love this friggin' frame. I'm 6'5" - 240 lbs and rides like a dream. Fits great. Light enough to throw around on really rough spots and takes up the slack when my legs are tired of soaking up rocky terrain. Love it.

Love this frame, I'm a big guy and this frame can handle anything I put it through. I did put Drop Out Kit 12X142 on it to stiffen up the rear end. Oh and what a great deal it was when it was on sale.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

Great geometry for aggressive trail riding.
I put ther Pike RCT3 150MM fork with a zero stack headset. Slackened head angle and can adjust fork travel to 140mm 130mm and 120mm for climbing.
The clear coat glows in the dark. Discovered that after a few weeks.
The quality of tubing. Welds. Design. And finish is absolutely top shelf.
No ICG mounts for bash/chain guide. but cup mounted versions work well too.
Clinbing friendly and dialed for burley descents.

Great all-rounder for a medium-travel 29'er. CVA is the real deal. Pedals great, plenty of plush on the DH.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

I love this bike. It made me a better rider right from the start. This bike has taken everything that I've thrown at it, and asked for more. I also own The Jet 9 RDO and this bike climbs almost as well and is 5 lbs heavier. CVA linkage is amazing. I never use propedal,I just get on the bike and ride. I built mine with the fox talas 34,X.0 drivetrain, American classic wheels, formula R1 brakes, and got the weight down to 27 lbs.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

I bought my RIP a bit over a year ago. Wow what a ride. I am a clydesdale and it holds up really great to abuse. I put the 142x12 rear axle on it and that was well worth the marginal additional cost. Talk about stiff rear triangle!

This bike just really rolls. It does everything I ask it to. Fast rolling smooth single track, no problem. Maybe not the best but does it well. Rock gardens, no problem. Maybe not the best but does it well. Hill climbs, goes up great, maybe not the best, but no problem. Down hill, it is all behind you by now, better bikes. Sure. Now put all that in to every ride where you can't just switch out bikes. That is what I ride every time. Now That is where the RIP truly shines. It just takes it all and keeps going.

This is really not a race bike. You want to just go fast, there are better options. Want to enjoy every second and forget about the bike under you with every peddle stroke? ride a Niner RIP!

Look past the price tag. Worth every penny!

I use it for cross country, all mountain and have even had it on the Brian Head chair lifts. This is a great bike one quiver bike and mine is built up around 29 pounds with dropper post.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

If you could only have one rig for all your riding this would be an excellent choice. As it stands, I have several more specialized trail bikes but they haven't been touched since this one was built out. At 5'10" w/ a 30" inseam the small frame fits perfect. No front tire/shoe grind. It's a very well rounded cruiser. The through-hub rear axle is a nice option but you probably don't need it.

Comments about Niner Rip 9 Frame 2011:

This bike is a nice bike, i really like mine. It can handle anything you can throw at it. Set up with XO Drive train and Fox Front and rear, it is about as nice of a build i can still stand to beat on. it climbs well, and descends even better.

The bike is a bit heavy when compared to a XC race machine, but that is not what this bike is about.

Now for the not so awesome: The bottom bracket sits a bit lower then most every other bike i have ridden, thus there is a lot of pedal scrape in turns and over obsticals where you have to keep the cranks turning. That has brought me to turning. It is a Long Full Suspension 29er, so nothing in that sentence says that it is a nimble bike, but turning it is like turning a Mack truck in an ice storm. It is kind of slow and all over the place. If there are berms, then all is well.

All in all I love this bike, just keep in mind it is not for racing!
