KS LEV Seatpost 125mm

In the world of modern all-mountain riding, an adjustable seat post is an invaluable upgrade that can significantly affect your ride quality. The Kind Shock LEV features 125mm of travel to keep you in the right position for any terrain.

  • Superlight air/oil height adjustable seatpost, about 100 grams lighter than other KS posts (460g)
  • Stationary remote cable routing, locates housing stop below the center collar
  • Housing stop rotates 360 degrees around the post for custom cable routing options
  • Locks anywhere in vertical range (which means the post will not extend when lifting the bike by the saddle)
  • 2-bolt micro-adjustable seat rail clamp, angled bolts increase clamp strength
  • Remote features a carbon fiber remote handlebar release lever, inline barrel adjuster and braided cables (ODI Lock-On compatible)

If you are looking for the best seatpost on the market this is it. The flip-side of that is that it has one of the heaviest prices as well, although there are a few more expensive posts out there.

At 460 grams this is currently the lightest dropper post as far as I've been able to find. KindShock has also been at the forefront of the static cable setup with the cable terminating at the collar, and at the bottom of the post with the Lev Integra. While this is not a make-or-break feature it makes setup and cable maintenance easier, cleaner, and less prone to mechanical issues or snags. One can also orient the termination point of the cable at the post 360 degrees to best accommodate each frame.

The remote lever is one of the most inconspicuous, and comfortable levers I've used on a post. Further, the remote lever can take the place of many lock-on clamps on the inside position of your grips to minimize bar real estate usage. The lever can be positioned in multiple orientations on your bar to find the one that best suits your needs. I've found that a slightly straightened 90 degree brake noodle coming from the remote to the first portion of cable organizes the routing beautifully with your brake/shifter lines, and gives a solid point for your inline barrel adjuster to mount to making cable tension adjustment very simple and quick. I paint my brake noodle black to match.

Wiggle in the head of the post is minimal, and not noticeable while riding. The lever actuation is light and quick, with the post responding with precise disengagement/engagement, and responsive rebound and compression. Also, the infinite adjustment allows the rider to determine what the best position of the post is instead of being predetermined by some engineer who is not riding the bike.

Maintenance care has been minimal only keeping the post and seals clean between rides, and durability has been great for both posts that I've owned. The 125mm length seems to be the most fitted length for the average sized riders, while 100mm tends toward XC and smaller riders, and 150mm to taller riders. Remember to account for downtube shape when deciding on the longer lengths. Also, this is one of the few good posts that accommodate 27.2mm seat tubes.

Finally, the Lev is good looking. While this is not the most important, it does add to the aesthetics of these machines that we spend a lot of hard earned cash on, and I, for one, like my bikes to look as good as they perform.

I have had the KS lev 30.9 with 125mm travel for just over one year now. Previously, I owned command post, Gravity dropper and rockshox reverb and kronolog. I will start by saying LEV does have a very smooth feel when it works and probably is the lightest of the hydrolic group. The remote lever was easy to set up and was easy to activate and rock solid. I did however end up sending the unit back to KS for warranty work after two months of use. Now, the post will raise when pulled on the seat. Another major issue is then seat clamp. The spherical bolts and nuts that hold the seat clamp will come loose even when torqued above specs resulting in lost bolts. They have no resolution on this and bolts are backordered with no eta. KS has horrible customer service. They have no representatives to even answer phones. Only voicemail and no one will respond. Parts are almost impossible to find and after calling two LBS I came to learn they are the hardest to deal with. I understand almost all droppers have some issue but best to Stick with a reputable company like rockshox or gravity dropper or Crank Brothers.

ONLY REASON NOT A 5 IS LACK OF EXPOSURE TO OHTER DROPPERS. MY FRIENDS HAVE THE NICE ROCK SHOX DROPPER AND IT IS LOOSE AND HAS PLAY. THE KS DOES NOT. I RECENTLY WIFFED A JUMP, LANDED FULL FORCE ON THE SEAT AND BENT MY SEAT RAILS, THE KS DROPPER STILL WORKING JUST FINE. HAPPY W/ PURCHASE.

I always wanted the KS and very happy I waited to buy this one. No cable to get in the way like the RockShox. Installed it easy. Like the adjuster than can go anywhere unlike other brands! KS, nice work!

Comments about KS Lev Seatpost 125mm:

The Lev works well. I've had it for 2 months, only on the last ride, once I got to the top of the trail, I couldn't get the post to drop, no matter how much pressure I put on it, the humidity may have had something to do with it. May have to research this. Now it work fine. Good dropper post. I initially installed it too high. So, I have to go back and lower the seat down a bit. This is the best upgrade I have installed. Love it. Also, like that the cable housing doesn't move as you drop the post.

Comments about KS Lev Seatpost 125mm:

The post is robust, and easy to clean and adjust with its barrel adjuster ect. I've ridden it in snow, rain, severe mud and everything else England can throw at it. The main problem, which is a deal breaker for me, is the poor seat clamp. It just doesnt hold the saddle in place regardless of how much torque you put on the nuts. Overtightening leads also to creaking and deforming of the plates. The saddle slides all the way back after about 30 mins of riding. I've read several internet posts describing the same problem with no visable outcome yet, and with very little help, if any, given from KindShock. Its a shame to be fair, aside from the shoddy clamp, the post really does work very well.

Comments about KS Lev Seatpost 125mm:

Wasn't sure how much I would use a dropper post since I've never had or felt like I needed one before but I'm glad I decided to give it a try. I have found I'm using the dropper post more than changing gears and would recommend one for everyone. Lee at Jenson recommended the Kind Shock Lev Seatpost and it has worked flawlessly, I installed it in about 30 minutes after watching a YouTube installation video and using the easy to follow directions. I haven't used other dropper seatposts so I can't give you a comparison but I've had no issues, there's zero cable movement, it's infinitely adjustable, easy to install, looks good and very smooth.

Worked fine for a while but after its first serious use in the wet, it developed a problem keeping itself at the 'fully down' position, and would rise up by itself. After adjusting the cable tension on the barrel adjuster it stays down most of the time and only rises up about 25mm at most, which still isn't ideal. Id send it back but the shipping fee from the UK would be the same price as a service for it at a local bike shop.

I up graded from another dropper post. Which had a large hard to push thumb lever.
The one on the KS is smaller and very easy to push.
I drop the seat 3x more now than before.
Before I had to plan in advance when to drop the seat, so I could find and push the lever.
Now the button is next to the shift levers and is as quick and easy to use as changing gears.
I ride very narrow single track with a lot of drops and step-ups. I drop the seat on all steps, drops and switch backs. I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, and can ride much safer now.
