BIKE TRAVEL BAGS

Flying with a bike can be difficult. The Airlines typically charge you an “oversized baggage” fee and then you hope and pray your bike shows up at the correct airport. Once you finally become reunited with your bike, you slowly open your box or bag afraid to look at the damage it has accumulated during the “delicate” handling of airport luggage. Hopefully your bike escaped unscathed, but we all know that doesn’t always happen. If you find yourself in this situation, you should consider bike travel bags.

The best way to travel with a bike is with a proper bike-specific travel bag. Bike specific bags provide padding where it’s needed most and showcase tough exteriors to protect your ride from the highly damaging process that is airline luggage transportation. Wheels located on the bottom corner of the bag and a handle on the opposing end make it easy to transport from terminal to terminal. Heavy duty zippers or buckles also guarantee your bike won’t escape from protection during the flight.

Travel bags either have a soft-shell or a hard-shell exterior. Hard-shell cases are typically better at protecting your bike but also tend to be more expensive. They can also be difficult to move around and store. A soft-shell bag is typically cheaper and is easy to maneuver. If you want the best protection for your bike possible, a hard-shell case is the way to go, but if you want a more practical way to transport your bike that is still very protective, a soft-shell bag is perfect for you. Either option is much better than a standard sports equipment bag or cardboard bike box.
