Shimano Deore FC-M610 Crankset

Shimano's Deore group provides race-ready performance at a reasonable price-point with only a minor weight penalty. The M610 crankset benefits from trickle-down technology used on the SLX group such as Shimano’s tried and true Hollowtech II technology. Rider tuned gear ratios and Shimano's Dyna Sys technology creates gear ratios that are specifically designed to maximize your efficiency on the trail. SG-X technology on the outer chain ring uses teeth with special tooth profiles to ensure consistent and smooth shifting, even under load while a compact design improves climbing performance.

Shimano Deore M610 Crankset Features

  • For use with 10 speed drivetrains
  • Hollowtech II technology
  • SG-X outer chainring for smooth, consistent shifting

I installed this in a 2004 Specialized Hardrock Sport. The stock non-drive side crank bolt simply wouldn't stay tight. After the final time the crank arm fell off while riding, I realized the bolt and axle had some broken threads. It didn't take me long to decide on the Deore crankset. Jenson USA had the best price around and I quickly pulled the trigger. I also purchased the necessary tools to remove the stock parts and install the new parts. Installation was a breeze. My primary concern isn't weight, but the crankset/BB combo out to 995g, shaved 231g from stock. Between the great design, reduced weight, and unbeatable price for a crankset/bb combo, don't look any further! Buy the Deore!

This crankset also supports the ability convert from 3x to 2x down in the future using a bash guard, another plus.

This seems like a great crankset for the price. Too bad mine was missing a pair of spacer rings and a crankarm bolt when it arrived. It looks nice sitting on top of the toolbox, I suppose, but it would be a lot more useful if I had all the parts I needed to actually install it.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

My crank arm kept coming off my other crank set so I thought I better replace it. The bike shop I go to recommended this crank set mainly for the deal that Jenson was offering. So I bought it and had the bike shop installed. So far it has been working very well. I have a mountain bike that I use to commute to work. I ride the rode in the morning and trail after work.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Centerpiece of my Italian Olympia hybrid buildout. Paired crank with 8 speed Shimano freewheel and 9 speed KMC chain. Voila, smooth and durable drivetrain. The Shimano Hollowtech BB included is English thread, needed to purchase Italian thread BB elsewhere (70mm shell). So much crank, so little money.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Easy to install with the right tools, works great. Did a 10-speed (3x10) conversion on an old S-Works M5 and a Race face single ring narrow wide conversion on my On-one, swapped out the chainrings and just needed to add the shims/outer washers to complete my 1x10 drivetrain. Both came out great.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

The crank fit on great. Instructions were a bit limited (as in there were none) but looking online I figured out where to put the spacers to get the right chainline. A great upgrade from a heavy, ugly, square taper Suntour crank. I think all in all I dropped over 3/4 lb as an added bonus from a much lighter BB and marginally lighter crank.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Look, while this is not an amazing, fly weight, boutique crankset, it IS a totally solid mid level piece. It gets the job done without any fuss with the benefit of technologies from higher in the product line. It has pretty much the same bearing cups in the bottom bracket, integrated spindle and hollow forged crank arms as 1 and 2 steps above it.

As written above, this is a solid mid level crankset at a great price and doesn't look too bad, either.
