My Go To Shoes
These are now my go to shoes for all MTB pursuits. Although they are a bit heavy, they are perfect in dry/wet weather and offer great protection. I run them both with and without the SPD clips installed. The wide tread pattern on the bottom hooks in well to the pins on my flat pedals too.

PROS: Rugged, Comfortable

CONS: Heavy

BEST USES: Downhill, Casual Trails, Single Track, Cross Country, Free Riding

a great non xc racer shoe
decided to go back to spds for longer rides after riding flats exclisively for a few years and wanted a shoe that would be as comfortable as my old sidi's, more toe room than my 5.10's, a good grippy sole for off the bike and didn't look like plastic mtn racing slippers.
Jackpot with the AM45s.
I will be buying a pair of AM41s (the non clipless version) soon to replace my 5.10s that are cashed after a year.
This is the shoe i have been looking for for a long time. And the best part is they fit true to size so i didn't have to return them like the 3 pair of 5.10s.

What I expected- Reviewers bang on
I read all the previous review s on the sizing of these shoes. I'm between a 9 and 9.5 US and waive red on the 43 and 44. I got the 43 and am happy I did. My toes just touches the end of the shoe but know it will come back a little after breaking. What is surprising is the width. These shoes are wide, and I normally wear a D or E width. There is amp,e room in the mid toe box. The larger size would have resulted in major heel slip.

Being on the Pacific Coast, it is very rsiny and wet right now so I have to make some "alteration" to keep my feet dry. The mountain plate is not integrated into the sole, so you have giant openings on the bottom of the shoe that would let water in. This isn't ideal in Vancouver Island winter with our mammoth puddles. To remedy, I mounted the cleats and then lined the sole with a strip of duct tape. Am not waterproofing with some spray and will hit the trails.

PROS: Nice Looking

CONS: Heavy, Sped Plate Lets Water In, Toe Box Is Huge

BEST USES: Cross Country, Single Track

Nice fit and heavy duty design for abuse
I needed a new pair of mtb shoes and liked the look of these. They're well built and can take some abusing, but they're heavy. It's heavier and feels wider than my 5.10 Spitfires, but I needed the cleats for my clipless pedals. Overall, they're recommended for XC and Downhill for their durability, but you pay the weight penalty.

PROS: Stylish, Durable, Comfortable

CONS: Heavy

First SPD's are Wonderful!
First time with clipless. I admit I was a bit worried, just turning 46, but an old dog can learn new tricks. Tried on multiple shoe brands at LBS tent sale and was a 46 in all of them (11 -11.5 mens size). Took a chance and ordered these online and indeed I was a 46 (some reviews suggested the shoes are sized odd, but really don't see that at all). They're heavy like most SPDs, but feel more comfortable on my feet than the road style shoes with cleats on bottom. Come with SH-51, but I bought the SH-56 cleats to allow me to clip out by twisting either direction. Paired with XT PD-M785 pedals with easy spring tension adjustments with allen wrench. It's already WAY easier to get my tires off the ground. When you're my age you'll take every advantage you can get. Can't wait to pass my son on the uphill. Jenson had the best prices, and delivery was really fast.

PROS: Great deal of adjustment, Feel like a tennis shoe, Are correctly sized

CONS: Little heavy like all SPD

Nice shoe
Kinda funny looking when on, flap over laces turns into a wing. Top flap/cover Velcro grabs laces and makes it hard to tie laces. Comfortable when on and cleat position is awesome.

PROS: Simple to Use, Good Traction, Good for Walking, Durable Sole

CONS: Finicky Closures, Velcro Grabs Laces

great shoe!
great great shoe, stylish, good looking, comfortable feels like a regular basket ball shoe, I have only use the bontrager race before wich is a pretty light shoe compare to this (250g vs 450g per shoe). this shoe feels solid easy to clean, the only sad thing about but its just in my case I ordered with delivery to mexico, they charge me 43 bucks more for the import duty but that was my own fault, well the shoe was totally worth it, an exact size match I don't follow any number or size I buy my shoes by cm wich I am 27cm this shoe is 27.2 in the 43 a perfect fit I hugs my feet and feels very very good and tight (but comfy). its easy to clip in and unclip, it transfer energy very efficiently, pedals like heaven. I really like the shoe.

PROS: Awesome, Durable, Warm in winter, Comfortable, Stylish

CONS: Weight, Hot In Summer

Great shoes, very comfortable
I was sick of tight, narrow XC style shoes and wanted to try something to make my feet happier and offer more protection from stray rocks. These are very comfortable and easy to hike in. I use these for fairly aggressive all mountain and free riding and they still have stiff enough sole for pedaling hard and landing jumps and drops. The only quirk is they sizing. My last pair of Northwave's were a 43 and these are a 45, my street shoe size is an 11. Definitely try them on first because your size may be completely off. Once you get the size, you'll be happy with these.

PROS: Easy to walkhike in, Fairly stiff sole, Plenty of protection, Very Comfortable

CONS: No ventilation, Odd sizing
