I have a hard tail Trek Mountain bike that I use around town. I ride mostly streets, sidewalks and asphalt bike trails. I ride over a hundred miles a week. I had Kenda Kwest tires for a few years and I swore by them for there corning grip and durability.
When it was time for new tires I found these when they were on sale and I couldn't turn them down.
After installing them and taking my first ride, I was impressed by there speed and low rolling resistance. I immediately noticed the less effort needed to get these rolling and corning grip is excellent. What I noticed and like about these tires is when cornering on concrete with a slight layer of sand on top of it, they grip good.
I run these tires w/ 55 psi front and rear and the only down side is the rear tire has worn more than half way in 6 months or 2000 miles in sunny hot South Florida. Overall I love these tires and will buy them again. ( when they go on sale :) )

I pretty much use these on a MTB converted to street use, for daily transportation to work. To get a better quicker ride, for the better part of a decade I always went with & bought Kendra Kross Plus tires (a great cross between street & the occasional hard pack trail...knobbies only on the sides).

After going thru about half dozen of these (the Kenda's), I decided to try something different with better/less rolling resistance which were these Michelin's. The price was great & it looked more dedicated to street, with no thick knobbies.

Well, I was wrong. These tires and there side walls are very soft, no matter how many PSI you put into 'em they always ride/look as if they are low on air. Cornering at times (and Im not talking warp speeds, almost parallel to the ground), feels as if the tire is going to come off the wheel. Also because the rubber/compound is so soft the rolling resistance is horrible compared to the Kendra's I always used.

What is shocking & dissapointing is I do use Michelins on my dedicated offroad MTB (I am a big "Wild Gripper hot S" fan), and they have always been stellar! I am just going to go back to using the Kendra Kross plus's for my commuter, they are tried and true, and only double in price of these Michelins, which is still a bargain in $$.

Comments about Michelin Country Rock Tire:

This is the best 26" all around use tire I've found so far. It's quick, quiet, and comfortable on pavement, great on dirt/gravel roads, and good on dry trails. It's reasonably lightweight while being durable. The lack of puncture protection is a trade off I'm willing to make for the weight and ride.

Put these on an old mtb > singlespeed commuter rebuild. They're fantastic on the road and do pretty well on hard packed dirt. Not tried them on gravel yet. Excellent for the money.

Comments about Michelin Country Rock Tire:

I've been using 1.5" wide tires on my 26" wheel commuter for the past couple of years. Then I read this article in Bicycle Quarterly about how fatter tires at lower pressures actually roll faster in real world conditions. Basically, it's because they absorb the imperfections in roads and trails rather than being forced up and over the bumps like high pressure skinny tires, thus conserving energy, momentum, and speed. I popped these lovely 1.75" tires on and immediately took 3 minutes off my best time on a 16 mile loop. And the ride was more comfy than usual, too. I will need to hold off the 5-star rating until I see how the long-term durability works out, but so far so good.

I ride hard surface overall but wanted a better tire than I used in the past.Being all smooth and a 1.50 width.Which is less effort only on hard surface.Which is exactly why this time I went with this tire.Along in the fact Michelin is well known for top quality tires. You wont go wrong as they didn't building this excellent tire.It rides the smoothest of all tires Ive used in my life.Im 57 years old and owned bicycles my entire life. The other thing about this tire, that sets it apart from the others.Happens to be its wide latitude for air pressure! Being from 32-71 PSI which again enables this tire for best of both worlds.Last are its good looks. You wont go wrong with this tire.

These are the best tires ever for mountain bike commuting. I am on my 3rd set and have purchased a new set every two years for the past 6 years. I will not buy anything different because these are perfect for street riding, and they will also handle off road. Do yourself a favor and get a set.
