Shimano Deore FC-M610 Crankset

Shimano's Deore group provides race-ready performance at a reasonable price-point with only a minor weight penalty. The M610 crankset benefits from trickle-down technology used on the SLX group such as Shimano’s tried and true Hollowtech II technology. Rider tuned gear ratios and Shimano's Dyna Sys technology creates gear ratios that are specifically designed to maximize your efficiency on the trail. SG-X technology on the outer chain ring uses teeth with special tooth profiles to ensure consistent and smooth shifting, even under load while a compact design improves climbing performance.

  • For use with 10 speed drivetrains

I installed this in a 2004 Specialized Hardrock Sport. The stock non-drive side crank bolt simply wouldn't stay tight. After the final time the crank arm fell off while riding, I realized the bolt and axle had some broken threads. It didn't take me long to decide on the Deore crankset. Jenson USA had the best price around and I quickly pulled the trigger. I also purchased the necessary tools to remove the stock parts and install the new parts. Installation was a breeze. My primary concern isn't weight, but the crankset/BB combo out to 995g, shaved 231g from stock. Between the great design, reduced weight, and unbeatable price for a crankset/bb combo, don't look any further! Buy the Deore!

This crankset also supports the ability convert from 3x to 2x down in the future using a bash guard, another plus.

This seems like a great crankset for the price. Too bad mine was missing a pair of spacer rings and a crankarm bolt when it arrived. It looks nice sitting on top of the toolbox, I suppose, but it would be a lot more useful if I had all the parts I needed to actually install it.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Look, while this is not an amazing, fly weight, boutique crankset, it IS a totally solid mid level piece. It gets the job done without any fuss with the benefit of technologies from higher in the product line. It has pretty much the same bearing cups in the bottom bracket, integrated spindle and hollow forged crank arms as 1 and 2 steps above it.

As written above, this is a solid mid level crankset at a great price and doesn't look too bad, either.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

I used this for a 1x10 setup. Absolutly unbeatable price to performance ratio. Looks good, decently light, stiff enough. I couldnt see paying so much more for SLX or XT with this one being as good as it is, and SO CHEAP. Only knock: the finish wears pretty quickly. Probably not an issue for people who use SPD, but i use flats, and my shoes have worn the finish off the crankarms very quickly. Not a big deal to me though at all.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Having purchased a Deore crankset locally, I knew exactly what I was getting when I placed my order with Jensen; a great Shimano Mountain Triple at an even better price.

Though directions with OEM products are sometimes scant, there's little save chain line to figure out, easy with a bit of math and the included spacers.

I replaced my older JIS square taper BBs with Suntour cranks and both bikes are noticeably smoother. Add in a nice weight savings, outboard (wider) bearings and much improved shifting and the Deore is easily the single best upgrade I've ever made.

Comments about Shimano Deore M610 Crankset:

Replaced a square tapered crankset on my rockhopper. Had the park brand bottom bracket tool, easy to install. Rode the trail once (8.5mi) since the install and it rides great. I run a similar shimano crankset on my urban bike, and am riding that more as I'll be riding it on a 110 century soon.

For 68mm bottom bracket shells, use 2 2.5mm spacers on the drive side and 1 2.5mm spacer on the non-drive side.

                    Customer service was first rate!
