An incredible value in an offroad clipless pedal from Shimano! The M520 pedal features adjustable in/out release tension and includes a set of SH51 SPD cleats with 4 degrees of float. While they only weigh slightly more than the higher-end XT and XTR pedals from Shimano, they boast all of the same features and the same high-grade performance at a fraction of the price. These pedals will serve you well and wont break the bank. Dual sided mechanism lets you easily clip in with a simple step, without looking down at your shoes.

Compatible with shoes drilled with SPD compatible (2 bolt) drilling, but can be used with 3-bolt (Road style) shoes with the use of cleat adaptors.

Weight: 370 grams (weight does not include cleats)
Float: 4 degrees
Material: Aluminum, Chromoly Spindle, 9/16"

I replaced my shimano m737's that I got for free at a bike show back in the early 90's at Pheasant Run Resort in Illinois . So I figured if I get half the life I did out of the 737's I would be doing good. So far I have about 150 miles on them and they seem to be working fine. I didn't mark the light or heavy box because they r about in the middle. Definitely lighter then my m737's and a little more aerodynamic. Fit is nice and snug actually had to get use to them after a few adjustments because my other pedals were clapped out. For the money I don't think u can beat this pedal. I give my old 737's a squirt of mobile one every once in a while and I'll do the same on these. My 737's r now on a old cyclocross bike, so like I said earlier if I get half the life out of them I'm doing good.lol

Decent pedal, a bit heavy

I used these almost year before I had to replace the non-crank side pedal, one of the bushings or bearings was destroyed after a couple of pedal strikes while mountain biking.

I used these almost year before I had to replace the non-crank side pedal, one of the bushings or bearings was destroyed after a couple of pedal strikes while mountain biking.

These are very good for a first timer, the engagement is easy and intuitive, and the adjustability is great and makes releasing the foot again very easy to learn. I would try these again, but would be a lot more gentle with them.

Comments about Shimano PD-M520 Clipless Pedal:

I have a road bike. But I want to buy this pedals because they are heavy and solid, can take the pressure more then the roadbike pedals. The clicking in and out mechanism is very simple. It helped me to increase my speed by allowing me to pull the pedal up.

Comments about Shimano PD-M520 Clipless Pedal:

I love these pedals for both on and off road cycling. They're not as light as some SPD road pedals, but they are tough, and they're easy to take apart to replace bearings or to clean and repack. They have both a hex socket and flats for a pedal wrench, so you don't have to worry about which tool you have available to swap them out, and they come in colors that make it easy to keep track of matched pairs when cleaning up after a CX race. The open design allows for quick and easy cleaning, either in the pits during a race, or on the driveway, at home.

Broke an old pair of Shimano pedals after 12 years of use. Grabbed these to replace them and I'm happy. Not the slimmest or lightest out there, but if you're not worried about the grams that you could lose just by taking a dump, these are for you.
