strong protection and doesnt bind
Pretty nice set of shin armor, stays put and does not squirm or need to be pulled up. It is also very easy to pedal in these, they do not restrict moment at all. The only con is that the neoprene that holds them to your leg can be a bit hot, which you wont notice until you remove the armor anyways.

PROS: Strong, Light, Durable

CONS: Warm

Finally a comfortable & functional guard
Before talking about the Riot Guard specifically let me say this first. Anyone who's looking for knee & shin protection, please do yourself a favor and stay away from a single piece solution. It doesn't work. No matter which guard you buy and how many $$$ you spend on it, it will suffer from the same problem - it would always move out of place and feel akward. The only solution that does work is to buy separate guards - a knee guard AND a shin guard.

Now for the Riot Guard. What I like about it is the large neopren closure on the back which protects the skin from the pedals in case your leg slips, and yet it is surprisingly very ventilated. I went for ride at a temperature of 35C (95F) and the last thing I noticed were my legs. I guess they didn't get hot as the rest of my body. What I like less is the pads. I don't know what 661 had in mind when they designed these but it is so bulky it actually feels like it could stop bullets. Seems like an overkill for MTB use.

PROS: Tough, Good Ventilation, Comfortable Fit, Front Rear Protection, Stays in place

CONS: Heavy

I've lost lots of skin until I bought these. Very affordable and very comfortable, you don't know they're there after a minute or two.

Great guard
Awesome shin guards, I pedal miles and miles of trail wearing them just to protect me from pedal scrapes, but they also do an awesome job for real crashes in DH and FR. They stay in place perfectly even with extended pedaling. They are light and comfortable enough to not even notice they are on, but when you do remember to take them off they are a sweaty mess since the material doesn't breathe amazingly. Small price to pay for these pads though.

PROS: Solid Protection, Light, Barely notice them

CONS: Warm

BEST USES: Freeride, Downhill

Shin pads
I strap these on before going down for a considerable distance then put them in the pack for the rest of the ride. They're Pretty hot if you wear all the time. You can strap them on, not slide on so shoes stay on when taking off/putting on.

PROS: Highly Adjustable, Comfortable Fit

CONS: No Ventilation

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Going Downhill, All-Around, Cold Weather

Good value, Durable
These are durable, lots of protection, a good value, the velcor works well.

Downside is the are hot and if you have larger calves they can be tight. Im 6'2" 230 ordered XL and they are snug but livable.
