The Dakar XCR 29er is an impressive specimen of trailblazing XC race performance armed with the advantages of a full-suspension design. The Dakar XCR 29 Comp features a lightweight Kinesium triple-butted alloy main triangle for excellent stability and durability that stands up to the abuse of trail riding without excessive weight. For 2013, Jamis made a number of refinements to the Dakar XCR frame, including a sleeker, lightweight shock mount bracket, 12 x 142mm thru-axle dropouts for faster rear wheel installation and a new 3-piece welded main pivot yoke with 25% larger chainstays so the rear wheel tracks perfectly with the front. The Dakar XCR utilizes Jamis's fully-active mp4 XC suspension design, which has been optimized for cross-country performance, with travel narrowed down to a tautly sprung, hyper-efficient 100mm that delivers a slight rising leverage rate in the first 40% of travel, and then is linear though the next 60mm of travel for a firm, responsive pedaling platform that keeps that rear tire firmly planted for pedaling efficiency and grip, whether you’re forging ahead on a climb or stretching your lead on a descent. Suspension duties in the rear are handled by a Rock Shox Monarch RL that tames bumps and sudden shocks with precision. The Dakar XCR's plush front-end comes courtesy of the Rock Shox Reba RL fork. The Rock Shox Reba RL's 15mm thru-axle and tapered alloy steerer offer a rock-solid front end that refuses to quit so you can keep cranking on down the trail, dominating rock gardens and clearing sketchy terrain without hassle.
Jamis specs the Dakar XCR 29 Comp with a practical workhorse component package for no-compromise performance from the local trail to race day. The SRAM S1000 crank is the power center of Comp build. The S1000 crank is paired with a SRAM X9 rear derailleur and SRAM X5 front derailleur that are controlled effortlessly by SRAM X7 shifters for crisp and responsive shifting that will keep you pedaling easily and transfering power efficiently. The Dakar XCR 29 Comp rolls on a set of Alex XD Sport wheels with Formula sealed bearing hubs wrapped in the grippy but fast Geax Saguaro tire for a combination that offers a classy blend of strength and trailblazing speed. Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic brakes give you all the power you need to stop on a dime or modulate braking when navigating a tricky section. Jamis decks out the cockpit with a WTB Volt Sport paired with a mix of Ritchey Comp handlebars, stem, and seatpost, ensuring that mission control is dialed and ready for blast-off.
