I broke my ankle...
I broke my ankle last November and it won't tolerate my Eggbeaters yet so I needed a very stable platform pedal for riding the mine dumps and ledgerock single track. These pedals have taken a beating already in less than a month and are as smooth as silk despite being smashed into taconite, ledge rock and logs.

I have really enjoyed these pedals. And so have my shins :) But they feel great and have great grip with 5 10 shoes. Only issue I have come across is I have lost pins in the pedals and they do not come with replacement pins... and it is hard to even take the broken pins out.

PROS: Grip, Size

CONS: Pins fall out

Great clipless option
I typically ride AM clipped in but after a knee injury it was difficult to rotate out of my clipless pedals. I opted to go with these platforms and a pair of 5-10 shoes. It almost made me not miss clipping in. I ride enough hills that I was missing the ability to pull up the pedal on the up stroke. Otherwise I enjoyed everything about thes pedals.

PROS: Cost, Grippy, Smooth spinning

Threaded Pedal Pins!
I felt i should make this comment based on many reviews of threaded pin pedals! You really need to use heavy thread lock on the pins and let that dry over night! Many people that have pins come out would not have them fall out if properly thread locked! This is a generic comment for all pinned pedals!

Good pedal from DMR, classic design
I had always liked the shape of the platform on these pedals combined with the concaved profile. They remind me of the old GT platform pedals on my BMX.
Now it seems that everyone is going with a bigger platform. I would probably recommend the Vault over the V12.
Some pins have sheared off on both pedals after two full seasons. A few pins have bent as well making it impossible to replace them.
I still do recommend these pedals, but I will buy the DMR Vault for next year

Great Value Pedal
I have these pedals on a Yeti 575, riding mostly in woods in the Southeast. They've given great grip while flying over rocky and root-covered terrain, off drops and jumps. They are also relatively lightweight pedals for the price, and can be made lighter with ti axles. The pedals are a bit thicker than I would like, but nothing too serious. As for the V12 mag's smashability? I've had the pedals on two different bike for about 4 years. They've taken their fair share of rock and root hits and for the most part have withstood major damage, although the paint comes off pretty easily from a strike which sucks. I did strike the pedals particularly hard against a rock at one point which snapped one of the pins and deformed the hole the bottom half of the pin was in so it couldn't be removed, which was disappointing. That being said, I haven't noticed a big loss of grip from that single pin being gone. Since then I have learned to better control my pedal position to prevent strikes, which is a good skill to have anyways. The bottomline: If you aren't particularly concerned with how the pedals look and you don't intentionally try to smash your pedals through boulders, these are great pedals to have at at a reasonable price.

PROS: Lightweight, Grippy

CONS: Soft, Thick

BEST USES: DJ, Downhill

Tough platforms
I went to platforms for my last couple of bikes, I love the freedom of being able to change foot position and I have more courage to try the technical stuff if I know I can bail at any moment. Plus they are gobs of grip with a decent flat-soled shoe and work as well grinding up a climb as descending mountains.

Also I'd like to mention that the pedals and the bearings are very durable, I get alot of pedal-strike from hitting rocks and the terrain, and despite having lost quite a bit of the finish from the edges, they still have retained all their pins and the bearings are still butter smooth.

The only con is that the pins are very sharp, so I'd recommend a good shinguard or watch out, hehe.

PROS: Light, Tough, Grippy

CONS: Pins are sharp

Overall Im happy...
Overall Im happy with them and the decent features outweigh the sloppy endplay from inside bushing (easily corrected). If you dont mind fiddling around with them after initial few rides, they ARE pretty good pedals and easy to fix with o rings but dissapointed that I had to in the first place. Mind you I DID buy a second set after fixing the first because they are cool and easy to fix.

Excellent Platforms
Very good platforms. I replaced my stock Giant pedals with these. Combined with a pair of 5-10 Impacts, the grip is unbelieveable. If anyone is looking for the stability of clipless while not actually being attached to your bike, I'd highly recommend this combo.

PROS: Grip, Cost

CONS: None so far
