The straps and adjustable clip make my feet feel secure with no play inside "I LikA LotA"

Oh yes the inside sole can be taken out, there is two Black Felcro strips on the other side like I have shown in the photo.

I've used these shoes 5 times and already ripped a hole in the toe box, right through the "tough" black plastic toe area. These are severely lacking in durability, especially in the toe area. I'm generally quite gentle on equipment so I was surprised these shoes did not last. Otherwise, they were stiff, light and comfortable. I wish I could recommend them, but even at the clearance price they aren't worth it. At least they got destroyed quick enough that I can send them back to Jenson with their great return policy.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

Got these for a great price since they were limited in sizes. Wore these with regular white shocks and it was too tight and uncomfortable. Replaced socks with thinner FOX socks and now it fits perfectly! Nice vent. It might last me a couple of seasons since I tend to hike a bike often up rocky climbs.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

I just used these shoes to do a 500+km bike tour in Cuba. Ventilation was not bad. Best part about these shoes was the snug fit and the three different arch support options that come with the insole, accommodating long and hard days in the saddle. My feet felt great and well supported. I usually wear a size 39 and 39.5 fit me perfectly.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

Admittedly got these for a song on closeout from Jenson - not sure I would step up to the regular retail (or normal discount from). Great shoe though - significant improvement over previous Pearl Izumi's that served me well for 5 years. The ratchet-close mechanism is great - really lets you dial in fit. Also, the carbon sole is stiff, yet still the shoe is comfortable for long rides. The increased power-transfer to the pedal stroke is immediately apparent, and I've experienced virtually no foot-fatigue, unlike my previous shoes.

I was looking for shoe with a ratchet buckle, but didn't want to pay a lot of $$ for it. This shoe is the best that I've ever owned and a price you can't beat. The Easton Carbon EC90 platform is outstanding. Instant response.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

I'm on my second pair of Giro Codes. Before the Codes I had a set of the Gauges which is an almost identical looking shoe but with a lower grade carbon on the sole. These shoes wear out fast; a couple of cross races on the latest pair and the two front lugs are already almost gone (the other two pairs did the same thing). I get about a year out of them before I wear holes in the toebox, which for me, is probably about 1200 miles in the dirt. If your local trails are buff singletrack and you never have any rocky hike-a-bike, you might be able to get some more life out of these shoes.

If I was forced to buy this shoe at retail, I'd look for something else instead, simply because I can't afford to drop almost $300 a year on shoes. That being said, these are the most comfortable cycling shoes I've ever worn. I generally do endurance races on my SS and even after 100 miles or 10 hours on the bike I have no hot spots, no soreness, or any type of discomfort from my bike shoes. These shoes fit my low volume feet and my narrow heel amazingly well. If Giro could find a way to bring their durability level up to match other top of the line shoes, they would be perfect.

These have been my favorite shoes so far. I've had these for a year now and have put them through everything…dirt, mud, and snow. They've held up great! The Easton EC90 sole is stiff and feels amazing when you're clipped in your pedals also.

I've logged hundreds of off road miles in these shoes, and I can't think of a single complaint. I've owned many brands of shoes for road and mtb riding. These have been my favorites. After a year of use, I can't believe how well they've held up. I would definitely recommend these to anyone interested. They are true to size, and they fit a little snug if you have a medium width foot.
