Teva Pivot Clipless Mountain Shoes

Teva Pivot Shoes

The Teva Pivot All Mountain clipless shoes don't just look fresh... They are fully functional! The Teva Pivot is a skate inspired shoe with a last that was designed for cycling. The reality is that most of us don’t live close to chair lifts and we are hiking our bikes up steep mountain faces. Teva recognized that, therefore, one of the most notable differences between the Teva Pivot and other cycling shoes is that the shank size is smaller. The shank stops before the toes and heel so it’s still very comfortable to walk in. The amount of rubber on the outsoles was cut in order to reduce the weight of the shoe. In between the shank and the outsole they filled in the space with EVA foam. EVA foam offers great cushioning and is super lightweight. All the materials that the Pivot is made out of is quick drying and water resistant, so you won’t be swimming in your shoes. The Teva cleat backing plate was definitely not over- looked. The hardware enters from the top and can be fully accessed by lifting up the sock liner or can be accessed through a mini port on the top. Drop a wrench right in and you’ll be able to modify the cleat position while the shoe is on the pedal.

Clipped and Comfy
I have been using cross country style spd shoes for years, and did so because I liked a lightweight and snug fit that velcro laces provides.

As an avid mountain biker who enjoys freeride/downhill and a killer climb, I was looking for a spd shoe that could provide a comfier platform and still give me the benefit of a cross country speed and snug fit.

I have riden with shoe for over 6 months, mostly on 1 hour climbs followed by a very agressive downhill in North Vancouver, BC. I love these shoes for the following reasons:

-super comfortable, lots of room in the toebox
-snug fit due to the lace/velcro combination
-never move around on my feet
-the cleat area is very wide, and I never have a problem clipping in, even on the hairiest of downhills when the foot becomes unlodged, which was always a problem with cross country style shoes
-some posters have commented that the inversed cleat design being felt and uncomforable when riding, I have not experienced this yet
-also comfortable when walking around the city post ride to get a beer or some well deserved food

I have not found anything I have not liked about these shoes yet. Have also not ridden in wet conditions, so not sure how they handle when the shoes get soaked.

Highly recommended

Great shoe for rocky terrain
I love the shoe for any time you need to dismount, especially if you plant your foot on a rock or have tohike a bike up a rock section. The grip is great, no sliding like the old style standard SPD shoes. My only complaint, which is minor, the sole is not as stuff as traditional bike cleats, so some energy is lost. For a standard 10-20 mile ride I havent noticed any difference or increased fatigue, but if you are doing a huge mt bike tour multi day event it might make a difference. I would DEFINITELY BUY AGAIN!

The search is over!
These shoes are perfect, and for me that's saying something. I've hunted for awhile for a size 14US pair of bike shoes that WEREN'T road type shoes and that I could use for commuting to work and back. After getting several different pairs from another website that said they were 14's (and just THAT much too small, apparently I've got big feet!). This pair couldn't fit any better and works well with both sets of pedals I've got (Shimano SPD type). Thanks so much Jensen for making it worth my while...finally!!!

Great shoe!
Excellent shoe, very comfortable to wear. Runs fairly close to my standard shoe size, maybe slightly larger. (Which has been the opposite of my other Teva shoes). Love the way the cleat mount can either screw from the bottom or top of the shoe. I use my Teva Pivots with Crank Bros. Mallet pedals. They fit like a glove. However, keep the set screw studs low to clip out easier. Have used these in three XC races now, been through thick mud each event, shoe felt comfortable the entire time. Easy to clean too. If your looking for a non-traditional clip-less shoe, get these. You will love them!

Good fit
Good fit for those who need a wide last. Comfortable for a bike shoe. I don't use cleats with this pair so I can't answer as to how well they work there. I use them mostly for mountain biking and occasional work commute.
