Continental X-King UST 26" Tire

Pronounced cross king, the X-king is between a race tire and an all mountain tire. This fast rolling tire has an aggressive tread which is perfect for gripping both hard and loose terrain. The shoulder lugs hook-up like super glue during high- speed cornering. The symmetrical center section provides excellent climbing and braking traction.

Tubeless From Birth
I use the Mountain King as front tire and X-King as rear tire. Great combo. Use them with Shimano XTR WH-988 Trail Wheelset and simply cant be happier. I use them as is without any sealant and just carry a small repair kit for if something goes wrong. The tires are thick which makes me think they are durable and very resistant to damage. The only downside is that being UST ready makes them be heavier than regurlar tires.

PROS: Strong, Looks, Tubeless

Cont x-king ust
I love these tires, originally had mountain kings but after 14 months of hard riding they worn out. Purchased these to see how a different style performs and I can love them enough. Light weight and very responsive tires.

PROS: Low resistance, Easy mount, Tubeless ready, Light

CONS: Expensive

BEST USES: Trail, XC

Fantastic UST Tire
Overall, this is a very good UST Tire. I have read that the Continental tires are not real wide, so i ordered the 2.4 and these look to measure much closer to a 2.2 or even a little smaller. They have very good grip and have strong sidewalls. I have been on 5 or 6 rides over the last two weeks and the have performed very well on the hard pack trails of AZ. With the UST, they have sealed very well and lose very little air. The only real downfall to this tire is its weight. The continental website shows them at 780g and you can feel that they are a bit heavy. Next time, I am gong to try the Protection version of this tire as I am already using Stans and they seem to be quite a bit ligther. Other than the weight, I dont have any other complaints.

PROS: Durable, Easy To Install, Attractive Design

CONS: Heavy

Fast Rolling great UST Tire
You can't beat the quality of Conti's UST Tires. I'm running this on Rear of my 26" FS bike with a Mountain King 2.4 up front. I wanted something on back that will roll a little faster but still have good traction. I have X-King 2.2 Front and Rear on my 29er and love them. They seal up easy and hold air very well. Sidewalls are also strong... Highly recommend. Expensive but worth it.

Wrong tire for me
These tires may be good for cross country racing over hardpacked dirt but they left a lot to be desired in loose soil and rock. They simply do not lock up in high-speed corners and never gave me any confidence in the rear end of my bike.

Really wanted to give these tires a chance but after two equally frustrating flats I have gone back to the Trail Kings. Both flats occurred on regular surfaces and both resulted in knobs of the tire basically being ripped from the carcass by small rocks. The gashes left were not able to be sealed by the Stan's goop. The Alaska backcountry is not a place you want to be messing around with flats (mainly because of flies and mosquitoes) and these tires made me reconsider going tubeless.

Bottom line: Not impressed with the XKing's ability to corner and would NEVER recommend these tires for rocky terrain and long mountain rides

Just my two cents
