The straps and adjustable clip make my feet feel secure with no play inside "I LikA LotA"

Oh yes the inside sole can be taken out, there is two Black Felcro strips on the other side like I have shown in the photo.

I've used these shoes 5 times and already ripped a hole in the toe box, right through the "tough" black plastic toe area. These are severely lacking in durability, especially in the toe area. I'm generally quite gentle on equipment so I was surprised these shoes did not last. Otherwise, they were stiff, light and comfortable. I wish I could recommend them, but even at the clearance price they aren't worth it. At least they got destroyed quick enough that I can send them back to Jenson with their great return policy.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

This will be my second pair of these shoes. The last pair lasted for three seasons, and now the carbon cleat mounting plate has worn a little thin. Pretty good value in my book. Light, tough, smooth. Fit and finish are top notch, stay true. Ladders get a little tough after a while but they look replaceable. I use these for everything, scrambling over scree to racing town series and distance, so they get a little beat up, especially the toe box. I wear orthotics and they are very compatible, using the usual size I wear. At end of long day of riding, my toes or the pad on the bottoms of my feet feel happy, not shaken or numb. Go Giro, and way to go Jensen for having such an awesome deal on these older 2012 model Codes w/ EC90 sole. (Can't see much diff in the new ones aside from graphics) I even got the color I like, that fruity magnesium!

Stiff sole transfers power to pedals without any foot discomfort. Uppers are form fitting so my foot feels very secure when riding. The insole arch support can be customized to fit, which is a very nice feature for those of us with low arches.
Too soon to tell how well they'll hold up, but they look very well made.

For now I got to use it only indoors, waiting for the spring, so I can test them on trails. I had to purchase a 44 instead of a 43.5 to fit correctly, and it does fit amazing: no pressure points, rubbing or numbness for now.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

The shoes set up easily using Eggbeater cleats. The range of adjustability on the closures is very good. I have somewhat low arches and found the outside of my feet were slightly uncomfortable at the end of a long ride. Per the instructions, I changed the arch height to "low," and had no further issues with that. The lateral ankle cut outs are slightly high and rub a bit on my ankle bones in this configuration.

I haven't had them for too long, but so far they are an excellent upgrade from my old, clunky Lakes. They fit snug and feel part of the pedal when riding... no wiggle room or slipping or separation.

Comments about Giro Code MTB Shoes 2012:

I bought the size 43.5, and they fit great. I'm generally a size 10 street shoe. To compare to other brands, these would fit like a 43.5 Sidi or Shimano. These come in half sizes, which I really appreciate, 43's are a little too small, and 44's are a little big.

The carbon soles are nice and stiff, which makes walking a little difficult, but they ride really well. The shoes seem reasonably light. They come with an insole that has different sized inserts for arch support, which gives you some flexibility with fitting.

The only con I have after two rides is with durability. On ride two, there was some walking for a couple hundred yards, with some rock, to an overlook. The thin plastic covering on the toe wore through from just this short walk. So, there's now some shoe goo on the toes.

I mountain bike 40-50 miles a week. I've tried two other pair of bicycle shoes and both hurt the balls of my feet. I will probably be increasing my rides because I don't have to endure or even think about foot pain anymore. I read they ran a bit small so I chose the next euro size up and they fit fine. They would be tight in my size but would probably stretch over time like one of the other pairs I used.

These fit nicely out of the box. The footbeds have replaceable inserts under the arch - good for me because I will not need to spend another forty bucks on superfeet. Haven't had them long enough to comment on durability.

Make sure to tighten the (filler) screws where the front traction cleats mount - three of them fell out on the first ride
