I've used this as a rear tire only, and I can't imagine it being a very good front tire. In the rear, though, I am fairly happy with it. The tread design makes the tire a fast roller, especially on the road when commuting to the trail. On the trail, it has good grip on hardpack and in slightly loose conditions. I had some trouble with the tire unpredictably losing traction in turns, but dropping a few PSI helped alleviate this. Overall, I was happy with this tire, but would have preffered a little better cornering grip.

This is a nice tire, i will use these for MTB Where the terrain is very variable; sharp rocks, loose sand, high slope descent/ascent with rocks and loose terrain. This is my first pair of Maxxis, so, i will try first and then i will comment how was their performance.

Ive been using this tire for more than a year,so far I have no complaints, it is a tire designed for xc, maybe his weak point is that in loose gravel trails the grip is not very good.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 26" Tire:

Had these for 3 hard XC seasons and some commuting before I wore them out. Despite the low weight they were really durable for me and I never had any sidewall blowouts. Provides decent grip in the corners, although this tire can loose traction easily if you are in a lot of loose, dry soil or sand. For hardpack and even wet conditions this is a great XC tire.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 26" Tire:

Picked up a 2.25 for the front of my pump track/old man dirt jump bike. Good blend of high-ish volume, fast rolling, and reasonable traction. Not going to a good front tire in chunky/rooty/muddy/loose terrain, but for hardpack it's solid. If using it for XC I would probably only run on the rear.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 26" Tire:

I have been using this tire for the last 6 years. It rolls fast and carves over the rough stuff. Notable this is not a down hill tire. It weighs more than a racing slick, but I find myself going faster due to it's great cornering ablility( slicks suck at cornering) Maxxis Is located in Atlanta and this tire work fantastic for what we ride here. All my dirt bikes are outfitted with this tire. It is all I ride. I have tried many tires different for the conditions here, this is unquesstionably the best As far as the conplaints below, I have no idea what conditions exist in california or how these folks inflate their tires or ride for that matter.
Get them, they are great and it even works better in 29" and tubeless. I can't saay enough good things.

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 26" Tire:

I'm old, and need every bit of help I can get. These tires are pretty easy to pedal and roll well- that's why I like them. They are hard to wear out. They have become fairly expensive recently, but so have most other tires. Ultimate traction is not their strength, but I find them to be fairly grippy and predictable. Unless you get the Exception series, They are a bit on the heavy side.

If you treasure your life stay away!!!

          By Teufelhuenden

Comments about Maxxis Crossmark 26" Tire:

Okay...been riding bikes for over 30 years...20 on a road bike and 10 on a mountain. I ride between 1 and 2k miles per year so I'm no slouch. I have bought tons of tires and won't go into every brand I have tried. I was having problems almost from the beginning with this tire. The rear slips out while braking and cornering. Put it this way...if you like to have a tire that has no grip in corners or on downhills this is the tire for you.

In other words, if you ride only on fire roads and pavement...buy this tire. For everyone else forget it. I literally almost died using this tire. Crashed so hard woke up in hospital, 3 broken vertebrae, clavicle demolished (was reconstructed with metal plate) and two massive blood clots in ICU. Thanks Maxxis. Not for nothing folks...but I wouldn't recommend this tire to my worst enemy. Not that I have any strong opinions about it!!!
