Rockgardn Fate Gloves 2015

The FATE Carbon Gloves™ feature a 1 X 4 split-knuckle design. Rather than one large knuckle piece, there are four independent pieces sewn to a leather surround that is, in turn, sewn to a floating, ventilated neoprene panel. This panel glides over the underlying Airmesh layer, allowing the knuckle pieces to articulate with the position of your hand, eliminating pressure points whether youre gripping or braking.
  • Carbon fiber forefinger protection.
  • Buttery-soft, reinforced genuine cowhide palm that gives a great grip feel.
  • Embossed cowhide wrist closure.

I bought 2 pair, a small and a medium, because the size chart said medium but i like gloves tight. I only have about 50 miles and 3-4 rides on each pair. I sweat heavily, and both pairs are still consistently turning my palms black. Hopefully that stops soon. Regarding size, the palm area is almost identical, but the fingers are shorter on the mediums than the smalls. Makes no sense to me, and I'm guessing it's a quality control issue more than an intentional design. Otherwise the fit finish, and stitching are fine. 1st ride out I caught a pedal on a root, landed hard on my hands and forearms, and scuffed up the palms on some hard pack trail. Some cosmetic scuffing, but the gloves held up great. Definitely saved some damage to my hands.

These are replacing a pair of Fox Bomber gloves, which I paid full price for. I bought the Fox gloves at a local store, and I tried several pair of the same size on to find the ones that fit "just right". The construction of the Rockgardn gloves feels a little heavier in some areas, and the fit isn't as perfect, but Fox also had consistency issues amongst the ones I tried. The Rockgardn gloves on sale were less than half the price of a new pair of Fox gloves, with similar features and protection, so much better value in my opinion. I give them 4 stars because of the inconsistent sizing and because I have no long term experience with them.

Well, I can't really comment on the pros/cons of these gloves since they're too small to use. Well, I shouldn't say too small. The palm area and wrist enclosure are what I'd expect from an XL glove, but the finger length part is probably the same as medium.

I'm a long time user of Fox Bombers, and I always had the issue of the L being a hair too small and the XL being a hair too big. I assumed that these gloves would fall in between considering people say they run a bit small. Unfortunately, XL Fate gloves fit is smaller than L Fox Bombers.

Looks like I'll be returning these.

I ride alot and these things seem to hold up. Definitley a warm glove but worth the knuckle protection for those that like to smash trees every once in a while

Comments about Rockgardn Fate Gloves 2015:

I gave this product the benefit of the doubt on build quality as it received mix reviews. The gloves arrived with a tear in the seam of one of the index fingers, I don't think could stand up to even the abuse of recreational use let alone downhill or XC. Also, the fit was way off! The palms are huge and the fingers are super short, I typically wear a L and upsized to an XL as per other reviews suggest and the fingers were still WAY too short.

This is my 4th pair of these. I wore the other three out. Best armored glove for the money in my opinion. Not sure why you don't see them in bike stores but highly recommend them for the non XC crowd you know who you are! Great for protecting you against the brush and sticks on the side of the trail as well as epic crashes. Will buy them again when these wear out.
