Kenda Slant Six 29" DTC Folding Tire

Kenda Slant Six Pro 29" DTC Folding Tire

For years, Kenda’s most popular tires have been the Small Block 8 and Nevegal. Finally, they’ve created a tire that embodies the spirit of both - and thus, the Slant Six Pro was born! Excellent for intermediate to hard- packed terrain, you’ll speed through the course without worrying about slipping and sliding.

Part of the John Tomac Signature Series, the Slant Six Pro features Kenda’s Dual Tread Compound which uses the L3R Pro compound (60 shore A durometer) in the center and the STICK-E compound (50 shore A durometer) for the corning knobs. The L3R compound will improve the center tread life while the STICK-E compound provides plenty of grip and control when corning fast downhill turns.

  • Wheel Size: 29"
  • Compound: DTC (Dual Tread Compound) - L3R Pro compound (60a durometer) in center and Stick-E compound (50a durometer) on sides/cornering knobs
  • Bead: Folding
  • Weight: 673±34g (2.0"), 709±35g (2.2")
  • TPI: 120
  • Max PSI: 50
  • Manufacture Part Number(s): 212668, 2126689

Great Rear Tire
I have purchased and worn out a handful of Slant Six 2.0 folding tires on my hardtail 29er. I've run them tubeless and with tubes, on the front and on the rear, toyed with psi, etc. All this time using these tires have led me to the conclusion that this is a great REAR tire for AZ terrain (dry, rocky, loose over hardpack).

This tire accelerates very quickly and grips well despite the smallish size of the knobs. With proper psi in the tire, and a good riding position, I do very well climbing. I don't get the wheel-spin that I got with my stock tires.

I decided not to replace my front tire with another Slant Six b/c I feel like it locks up easily when braking, and is washes out on fast turns. I went with a 2.2 Nevegal (see my other review) and have been happy so far with that tire up front.

The last Slant Six I bought weighed in exactly 700 grams on my scale (size 29x2.0).

Initially these tires seem to wear down quickly, but surprisingly they last quite a while. I can not comment on how the last on the road, but I wouldn't guess that they would last very long. I get at least 6 months to a year of life from these tires, riding quite a bit.

Great Hardpack tire
I live in an area that has a lot of hard packed sand and these tires do really well. I run this tire in the rear with the Kenda Nevegal up front. I was surprised how much use I got out of the tire considering the limited tread. It does not like muddy conditions but that's the price you pay for having such a low rolling-resistance tire.

PROS: Attractive Design, Durable, Low Rolling Resistance, LONG LASTING, Lightweight

CONS: Limited Conditions

Does everything decent but nothing great
They look like they would be a great all around tire but after a few short rides realized they rolled rather slow and didn't grip too well either. Good casual tire but would suggest lighter tire for racing and more aggressive for more aggressive trail riding...

PROS: Decent Speed Vs Grip, Easy To Install, Durable

CONS: Heavy For Race Tire, Limited Side Grip

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, General Mtn Biking

Great tire
A good grippy tire with low rolling resistance, handles most conditions with aplomb. The only exception being muddy, but hey, if its muddy you shouldn't be on the trail anyhow, right? Light weight with the option to run tubeless if you're into that sort of thing.

PROS: Holds tight in corners, Low Rolling Resistance

CONS: Doesn't like slop

great all arounder
These seem to roll about the same as the crossmarks that came on my bike. That is to say they roll fairly easy for a 29" knobbed tire. Grip very well in harder dirt and decent in rocky stuff. I ride them mostly on bike path that is half paved and half crushed limestone. They hum, but not terribly so. I actually find the sound kinda cool, after all it is a mountain tire. Only time this tire performs less than great is in mud, but then this isn't really a mud tire either. The graphics on the tire look good too. I cant really think of anything negative to say about them. Fair price, good looks, good performance, andthey ride pretty comfortably. Tread is not that deep like on a dedicated agressive or mud tire. Like I said, great all arounder especially if you're mostly on hard pack

PROS: Lightweight, Attractive Design, Easy To Install

Fast rolling XC tire
I've found this tire to be a great allarounder for my 29er. It's held up well against anything I've thrown at it.

Deceivingly grippy tread
Needed a tire that fit my Niner in the rear and wouldn't rub on the chainstays. I'm a big fan of Kenda tires for durability and converting to tubeless. Decided to try the Slant Six. Its done well in this East Coast singletrack with loose over hard pack and rock gardens. The center knobs grip well and get me over rocks while the side knobs are good in the corners. If you ride mud the centers can pack up but once you hit rocks or hardpack they clear. Its a cross between a hardblock 8 and nevegal. Interesting design.

PROS: Grippy, Easy To Install, Lightweight, Durable

CONS: Not A Mudder

Is this tire tubeless?

BEST ANSWER: No it is not tubeless ready.
You would need the UST version. It will say DTC-UST
DTC is just the rubber compound
