T.H.E. Maxi Elbow Pads

T.H.E. Maxi Elbow Pads

Mountain biking and BMX can be rough and tumble sports, so it’s nice know that T.H.E. is there to offer you the ultimate protective gear with their Maxi Elbow Guard. The Maxi Elbow Guard utilizes German engineered SAS-TEC viscoelastic insert foam that reacts to impacts by dissipating the force throughout the material. Simply put, the SAS-TEC will absorb the blow and then be quickly ready for the next one. This durability leads T.H.E. to ensure that the Maxi Guards have an anticipated life expectancy of ten years. SAS-TEC is already widely used in the motorcycle industry and now t.h.e. is bringing that technology to bicycle protective gear.

Protective gear that isn’t comfortable is a chore to wear or worse yet, may be left behind and that could spell disaster. The T.H.E. Maxi Elbow Guard is built around a neoprene sleeve that has been perforated for ventilation and a low profile design that can fit under your pants. The lightweight design and the comfortable SAS-TEC translates to all day comfort. For added durability, the outside of the Maxi Elbow Guard is covered with a Kevlar fabric that resists tearing. When the Maxi Guards get dirty, the inner pad is easily removed so that the exterior can easily be hand washed to keep them fresh for the next ride.

Don't be deterred by other reviews...
All the negative reviews pertain to sizing. They do run small, but the other reviews are very exaggerated. The size chart is perfectly accurate and says they run small...if you follow the chart you should be fine. I am 6'3" and 190 and the XLs fit me fine. Ordinarily would maybe wear a MD or Large arm pad depending on the brand.

Quality of the pads themselves seems great, especially for the price. Wanted something with a bit more protection than G Forms that wasn't too pricey...and these are perfect for that.

These Rock!
I'm 5'8, 138 lbs, would have thought small, but checked measurements and went med. These Rock! Hands down. Had Race Face, Troy Lee, those are nothing compared to this. These will not move around, super comfy, padding seems solid enough (if you want more you'd have to go hard pads) hardly notice them when on (ok, they will get a little hot on if you're thinking of wearing on an xc ride), nicely articulated. Why are these so cheap? I don't know - but I'm happy I risked and ordered - worth as much as any top pad out there.

just my size
biking, skiing... that's it. and my arms are not big. I'm a scrawny 5'11" dude, and the medium pads fit perfect. super cheap on close out

Snug Fit Makes for Secure Pad
I agree with other reviewers about the difficulty of putting this pad on. However, I don't mind the challenge. I took a couple nice diggers on the trail the other day and the pad stayed in place. There was no shifting around and my arms didn't suddenly become vulnerable. The grippy compound on the inside of the pad also didn't tear at my skin or cause excess sweat or irritation. Honestly, I forgot I had these on.

I found that the trick to putting these on is to use a twisting motion and to work the lower end of the pad up your arm before pulling the upper part. If you do this a few times you should have both pads on in a minute.

CONS: Tricky To Put On

awesome for the price
cant understand the negative reviews. these are practically free, especially given the viscoelastic pad material. i use them for aggressive trail riding including some light downhill. mine are xl (5'9" ~ 175 lbs) and were smallish at first but as stated in other reviews, they stretched and are now fine. the only thing i can say is that if you are bigger than me, im not sure id recommend them. other than that, they havent ripped, they arent any more difficult to put on than other brands, and i dont know how to tell if my elbows are hotter than they would normally be. but like all pads, they are difficult to get off after a ride. ive banged elbows on rocks etc and they works as advertised...very nice really. i wouldnt hesitate one bit to give these things a shot at this price. get the knee pads too, same deal as the elbow pads, just size up 1 size.

Protect yourself, at least your elbows
I like this elbow pad, it feels fine but runs a tad bit small. I have had the Kali soft elbow pads and like the feel of those a bit more, but the price is hard to beat for the few times I actually use these things.

PROS: Durable, Lightweight, Looks Good, Price

CONS: Runs A Bit Small

Great quality BUT run on small side
As others have said these run on the small side. I am 5'8" and bought large and I still have to use them at their loosest setting. Knee guards however seem to run more true to size.
