Brand Description
Since 1978, Diamondback has been at the forefront of innovative bicycle design. Diamondback produces bicycles suitable for every rider type. Whether you are an avid road cyclist looking for the newest, lightest frameset on the market, or crushing the downhill trails of Moab, or just looking to cruise the boardwalk, Diamondback has a bike to suit your needs. Diamondback believes that every bike they produce is a reflection of who they are. Therefore, each bike that rolls out of Diamondback’s factory embodies their core values which are precision, durability, and integrity.

Innovative Technology
Diamondback full suspension mountain bikes are known for their Knuckle Box suspension design. The Knuckle Box, or Bell Crank, is Diamondback’s single- pivot four- bar suspension platform. The ideally placed pivots create a low leverage ratio which creates superior pedaling efficiency and small bump compliance. By placing the Knuckle Box low within the frame, the bulk of the weight is closer to the bottom bracket. This lowers the bike’s center of gravity which helps to improve tracking and cornering. The four bar suspension design further increases control over wheel- rate. Wheel rate is the effective spring rate when measured at the wheel. Diamondback worked closely with Fox Shocks to optimize the wheel rate to be linear to slightly progressive. This results in small bump compliance, more perceived travel, and bottom- out protection.

The Mission
If you were to only have one bike to do it all the Diamondback Mission would be it. The Mission features 6 inches of front and rear travel. It is the perfect companion for the all mountain/ enduro mountain bike rider. The Mission climbs like a mountain goat, and is as comfortable as a Lazy- Boy recliner going down- hill. The Diamondback Mission really struts its stuff on the down- hill sections. For 2013, Diamondback used a Fox Shocks 34 Float with 160mm of travel, and CTD technology. The buttery smooth Fox suspension in combination with the 67° slack head angle eats up any obstacles in your way and adds stability to the descents, yet doesn’t compromise climbing efficiency.

The 2013 Diamondback Mission was designed to be a rugged mountain bike ready to take the abuse of aggressive trail riding. The Mission features a 6061- T6 Weapons Grade Aluminum frame with hydroformed top tube, butted and formed downtube and seatstays, seatstay- bridge, and tapered headtube. The tapered headtube adds strength to the frame and reduces flex. ISCG tabs allow you to attach your favorite chainguide. The 142x12mm E- thru axle adds stability and rigidity to the bike’s rear end.

The Mission features Diamondback’s legendary Knuckle Box suspension technology. Knuckle Box suspension is a single- pivot, four- bar suspension platform. There are many benefits with this suspension design including better small bump compliance and improved tracking and cornering. The shock is able to work more efficiently which reduces pedal- bob. It also reduces the overall load on the system which leads to prolonged shock and bearing life. Diamondback worked very closely with Fox Shocks to choose and tune a rear shock for the Mission. The Mission features the Fox Shocks Float CTD air shock with Adaptive Logic and Boost Valve Technologies. The Fox Float CTD (Climb Trail Descend) is new for 2013. With CTD technology, you are able to adjust the shock with the flip of a switch to accommodate the variable terrain. Fox’s Adaptive Logic Propedal Platform allows the rear to remain plush without sacrificing pedaling efficiency.

Diamondback has taken out all the stops with the Mission. Along with the superb Fox suspension pieces, The Mission is dressed in quality components by the heavy hitters in the mountain bike industry.

Comments about Diamondback Mission Bike 2013:

Got the bike delivered, set the front air pressure and rebound in 5 minutes. Set the rear shock sag and reboud in another 5 minutes. Attached pedals and took to my local downhill track for shuttle runs, not one problem, as the build was as solid as the biek and components. Took it for a 4hr all mountain ride in San Clemente area the next day, and am really impressed by the amount of different terrain this bike dealt with, from downhills, to climbs, with no problem at all! So far - loving it!

Comments about Diamondback Mission Bike 2013:

Great bike. I heard it was heavy but it weighs in under 33lbs which is a huge plus. Its has great fox suspension, and I like the race face cranks. The brakes are great, Elixer 5, a big step up from the 2012 Mission which had Hayes.
