GT GTR Series 2 Road Bike

The GT GTR Series 2 road bicycle is part of GT’s Race bicycle lineup. Get ready to climb to the top of the podium. The GT GTR Series 2 road bike is lightning fast. Built from GT Speed Metal™ double butted alloy, it’s strong and lightweight. The tapered forged head tube and BB30 interface add rigidity for superior power transfer. The carbon GT Speed Blend™ fork features a carbon steerer for weight savings. Shimano 105 shifters are paired with a Shimano 105 rear derailleur and a Shimano Tiagra front derailleur. Tektro R340 brake calipers are strong and provide ample stopping power for cruising down the road at full speed. Shimano R501 wheels feature bladed spokes and color matched decals. They’re fast, light, and oh so durable! GT worked hard to perfect the geometry of the GTR Series.  A 73 degree head angle and 73.5 degree seat angle (size medium) allow for an aggressive riding geometry that is still comfortable.  The 410mm chainstay combined with the BB30 bottom bracket interface adds for a measure of flickability.

The GT GTR Series 2 is a race day ready bike with a price tag that won’t make your eyes bleed. GT has done a phenomenal job pairing high quality components with a quality lightweight alloy frame. If you’re a casual road cyclist looking for a high quality bicycle to ramp up your training, this is it. Enjoy the ride!

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Bikes GTR Series 2 Bike 2013:

I have been riding a GT Avalanche Expert mountain bike, on the streets, like a road bike for the last 3 years. I blew out two discs in my back 3 years ago and can't ride off road or lift weights, but so far can get away with road riding. This is my FIRST road bike, and after coming from riding my mountain bike LIKE a road bike ...Im BLOWN away!!! After having a 32lb moutain bike between my leg for 3 years, I was up to averaging about 18.5 miles in an hour. Now with the GT GTR Series 2 ...I immediately went up to 23 miles in an hour and systematically I'm much less fatigued. Everything on the bike is up to my expectations. Weight, Shimano 105 components, wheelset, everything. for $799.99 it blows ANYTHING out of the water. 1000% satisfied. Btw ...the color is extremely unique and cool in person ....matte silver and matte reflectiv3e blue. I get mega compliments from guys and girls on their "name" brande specialized, cannondale, trek, etc. There's nothing out there that quite has this color scheme. When they see the components and feel the weight ...they shake their heads ...ALL of them when I tell them $799!!!
Zero complaints, 1000% satisfaction. I was looking at bikes locally, anything around here was $1500.00 and up. I happen to love GT's geometry and color scheme. Summary, this right here ...is the "best buy" in the road bike world!

Was hesitant to buy online. Bike/Packaging was exactly as video explained it would be. Included checklist from mechanic. Easy to get up and running.
We'll see about Tektro brand brakes in the long run. A little noisy in the drivetrain area. After a few minor adjustments should be ready to go. Might upgrade a few components in the future, but decent entry-level components to start with.

Comments about GT Bicycles GT Bikes GTR Series 2 Bike 2013:

This bike is a great bike, it is priced far lower than any other bike of its caliber I have found. I truly enjoy riding this bike. Upon getting it the front derailleur needed to he adjusted as the chain would grind on it. The brakes are not great but you can buy brake pads pretty cheap to replace them. After about a month of riding this bike the rear derailleur hanger snapped while I was crossing a major road, and I had to walk several miles home. Tried contacting jensonusa and they will not return calls about warranty so it is at a repair shop a month after getting it getting a new rear derailleur and hanger, New spokes on the rear wheel, and new chain and big chainring as I was going 30mph when it broke and skidded to a halt as the derailleur banged up everything on back end of the bike. I feel the hanger likely got bent during shipment to me and just 150 miles of riding later snapped right off. All in all its a great bike but I wish I had received better service after dropping a small fortune on the bike only to have it go to a shop a month after getting it.

As a new road rider, this bicycle provides a good mix of components, light weight frame, and more than enough functionality/performance to grow into. The bike arrived ahead of the promised delivery date without any surprise costs and was set up in accordance to the high standards set by Jenson. Overall, an excellent experience. Will shop Jenson again for our next purchase.

Out of the box the bike was tuned and true with the bronze assembly package which was free with purchase of the bike. I had to do some minor adjustments, but that's to be expected. I'm new to road bikes but have been biking consistently for years. I've put about 100 miles on the bike so far and love everything about it except for the brakes. Not necessarily the brakes themselves but the pads that Tektro uses. I recommend an immediate upgrade. Which stinks after just spending a pretty penny on a new bike. It's also hard to find a bike with 105 components sub 1k. Which this bad boy has. It looks sharp and and shifts swiftly.

I spent a lot of time deciding on my first road bike. THE GT GTR seemed like the best value for money and boy was i right. Almost everything on this bike is solid quality stuff put together on a responsive but not harsh frame.
The only real knock I have on this bike is the wheels. When spinning them up there is some percivable drag, but nothing that couldn't be upgraded down the road.
