Crank Brothers Mallet DH Pedals

The Crank Brothers Mallet DH pedal is loved by many riders and mechanics throughout the downhill/ all mountain community. The original Mallet was a hit with many riders, but Crank Brothers knew they could do better. In 2011, the Mallet was revamped and made thinner and lighter. However, many riders missed the wider platform. Steve Peat (Santa Cruz Syndicate) worked with Crank Brothers on the new Mallet DH/ Race. Therefore, Crank Brothers went back to the drawing board to create a light weight, wide pedal. The Crank Brothers Mallet DH is the perfect combination of function, feel, and performance.

Great pedals. They are meant for down hill riding but I use them on my trail/cross country bike. Great for technical riding when you need to pedal without being clipped in.

I researched clipless pedals for enduro/trail riding for a while and these stood out, and for good reason, there awesome. I tryed the candy 3 for a few rides but they just didnt give me the confidence these do. They feel so solid underfoot with my five tens, and soon realized why most pro enduro and downhillers have them on there bikes.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Mallet DH Pedals:

This pedal is the best clip less pedal I have ridden. I have been riding clip less for over 20 years and this is another leap forward. These pedals are solid, stable, and so easy to get in and out of. Great for control of the bikes back end

I've been using this for 4 weeks in wet condition. The clips that hold the cleats rusted easily. Also the premium cleats that comes with this pedals worn out too fast.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Mallet DH Pedals:

In the event you need to service these pedals the plastic end plugs covering the bolt/nut holding the pedals together seem to be made of a substance similar in consistency to old chewing gum. The plugs will inevitably disintegrate under the turn of a flathead screwdriver and as a result the bolt/nut will be completely blocked. You will likely resort to spending hours picking the plug apart inside the pedal- a total pain and a complete waste of time. The wide platform on these pedals is nice but not worth the service hassle. Purchase something else.

After several different platform clips finally came across these. Great solid pedal. You don even notice if you miss clipping in on a technical section.

                    Great large platform.

This is a fantastic all round lightweight DH pedal for people who want clipless aswell as a very grippy flat pedal design. It sheds mud like no other and is the lightest clipless dh pedal i have used.

Used this in a race recently at Thredbo and i was extremely impressed. these are the only pedals i will choose for future DH bikes
