Jamis Dakar XCR 29" Sport Bike 2013

The aptly named XCR stands for cross-country race, and that’s not something to take lightly. When it comes to connecting the dots from the starting gate to the finish line, there’s simply nothing faster than a Dakar XCR 29er. The Dakar XCR 29er is an impressive specimen of trailblazing XC race performance armed with the advantages of a full-suspension design. For the XC rider looking to push the limits of their riding past the edge of normal, the Dakar XCR gives you the tools to nurture your penchant for speed while conquering terrain you used to avoid on a traditional hardtail XC bike. Whether you're looking for a new bike to explore the stretches of your local trail system, getting into trail riding for the first time, or gearing up to dominate the regional race circuit, the Dakar XCR 29 is a versatile, drool-worthy rig that leaves nothing but a trail of dust and desire in it's wake.

The Dakar XCR 29 Sport features a lightweight Kinesium triple-butted alloy main triangle for excellent stability and durability that stands up to the abuse of trail riding without excessive weight. For 2013, Jamis made a number of refinements to the Dakar XCR frame, including a sleeker, lightweight shock mount bracket, 12 x 142mm thru-axle dropouts for faster rear wheel installation and a new 3-piece welded main pivot yoke with 25% larger chainstays so the rear wheel tracks perfectly with the front. The Dakar XCR utilizes Jamis's fully-active mp4 XC suspension design, which has been optimized for cross-country performance, with travel narrowed down to a tautly sprung, hyper-efficient 100mm that delivers a slight rising leverage rate in the first 40% of travel, and then is linear though the next 60mm of travel for a firm, responsive pedaling platform that keeps that rear tire firmly planted for pedaling efficiency and grip, whether you’re forging ahead on a climb or stretching your lead on a descent. Suspension duties in the rear are handled by a Fox Float RP2 w/ Boost Valve that tames bumps and sudden shocks with precision. The Dakar XCR's plush front-end comes courtesy of the Rock Shox XC32 TK 29 Solo Air fork. The XC32 TK 29's 15mm thru-axle and tapered alloy steerer offer a rock-solid front end that refuses to quit so you can keep cranking on down the trail, dominating rock gardens and clearing sketchy terrain without hassle.

The Jamis Dakar XCR 29 Sport build kit is an excellent value consisting of tried and true industry favorites, offering plenty of bang for your buck. The Shimano M430 Octalink crank is the power center of Sport build. The Shimano M430 crank is paired with a Shimano Deore 9-speed rear derailleur and Shimano Alivio front derailleur that are controlled effortlessly by Shimano Alivio 9-speed shifters for crisp and responsive shifting that will keep you pedaling easily and transfering power efficiently. The Dakar XCR 29 Sport rolls on a set of Mavic TN119 wheels with Formula sealed bearing hubs wrapped in the grippy but fast Geax Saguaro tire for a combination that offers a classy blend of strength and trailblazing speed. Tektro Draco 2 get you into the powerful world of hydraulic brakes at an entry-level price point yet offer all the power you need to stop on a dime or modulate braking when navigating a tricky section. Jamis decks out the cockpit with a WTB Volt Sport paired with a mix of Ritchey handlebars, stem, and seatpost, ensuring that mission control is dialed and ready for blast-off.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCR 29" Sport Bike 2013:

I was searching for a similar bike that fit my budget. Eventhough this bike did not have the high end components my other bikes had, the ones it had were good enough. I figured after a year I usually have changed out everything anyway...
This is a beutiful looking bike, to the extent that it was stolen 3 days after I goy it....

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCR 29" Sport Bike 2013:

My Jamis Dakar XCR is used primarily in the hills of Western PA. Lots of rocks, roots, mud and hill climbs. The 3x9 drive train allows for more than enough gear combos for the above terrain. I am most happy with the techno draco disc brakes. These brakes have plenty of modulation and work well. They are simple to set up and maintain. This bike looks and handles great and is spec'd well for the price. if there is one change I would make, it would be to put a more durable saddle in the mix.
