This was given to me as a gift and wow! Thankful I didnt have to pay for it because I think Dura-Ace is still a bit pricey for what you get but it DOES perform! I havent had a miss-shift yet and use it for all my cross races. Like the actuation but prefer my campy on the road.

I had issues shifting under load on my tandem and my wife and are fairly serious cyclists. Going uphill before was a test in which gear before going up and now I can choose and change at will...awesome!

Comments about Shimano Dura Ace 7900 Rear Derailleur:

For fast recreational and racing, DuraAce is, of course, legendary. Fantastic build quality and fast accurate shifts are a hallmark.

If you're used to Shimano 105 or Ultegra, DuraAce's rear derailleur will win your heart as soon as you complete the install and go to adjust it for the first time. It's fast and easy to achieve perfectly accurate shifting when paired with the DuraAce 7900 shift and brake levers.

My only complaint is that the shifts to smaller cogs feel like the chain is being dropped onto the next gear. Shifts to larger cogs are the absolute definition of smoothness and perfection.

Don't get me wrong...even the "drops" are very precise and accurate. But you'll wish that you got the same level of performance going in both directions!

Picked this up on sale and couldn't be happier. Goes well with my Dura Ace drive train and the groupset has lightened my rig quite a bit. Shifts wonderfully and I have no complaints.
